That’s because they don’t want to govern. They want to control the people. They force their personal beliefs on people and only focus on making money. I think Republicans actually loathe us.

Missouri’s public health spending rate is $7/person while Illinois spends $43/person. Even the red states surrounding MO spend much more. Most of the public health funding comes from the federal government which is going to be cut. It’s really pitiful.

I ran in Missouri for state representative. I lost, but it scared them enough that they redrew the district boundaries so I couldn’t run a second time without having to start from ground zero again, and I just don’t have the physical strength anymore.

The one decent thing the long-standing GOP dominance of TX government has done is build up a Rainy Day fund. Vouchers will no doubt put a major dent in that, but probably not to the point of extreme measures.
The problem with school vouchers is they are not a one-time payout. One might be able to balance the budget by dipping into a rainy day fund, however, the same amount of money or more will be required the following year. The fund will ultimately be depleted.
I hate the idea of vouchers as much as anyone, but TX is (uniquely?) positioned to handle the budget carnage while the policy is in force. The first two years vouchers are limited to $1B/year. TX deposited $6.5B in the rainy day fund in FY 2024.
As long as the Republicans are in power the voucher program will not be going away. The Texas rainy day fund, which should be a fund for emergencies, is now the voucher fund.

The party views red states as lost causes. The voters are ignorant. They simply don’t want to know what is happening with regard to politics. They aren’t interested. They don’t read and they don’t access factual news. That’s a bigger problem than any political party can solve without majorities.

They can’t govern the people, but I’d say they are absolutely living up to what they want to bring about. What if they are purely results driven & they are absolutely accomplishing what result they’re going for-Death, Women’s deaths in particular, lack of education, lack of healthcare.

I think it's mostly due to a lack of education. These voters don't understand civics, government, or possess critical thinking skills.

From the Republican POV, those results might be considered shining successes, in light of their president’s first few months attacking every public good in sight.
Many southerners are keenly aware that Democrats call them stupid, ignorant, uneducated, racist, sexist etc. Many struggling poor people of all races in the South don't believe their lives will be improved by either party.
So why are they still in power? Democrats need to listen to the people! They think they know what we want and they are wrong. They are too scared to lose their power to take chances. They are not relevant to what our country is today. Let some new faces take their positions, stand back, it’s time!

Yep… except I think the tide may be turning as the political apparatus didn’t get it when it came to NYC primary but citizens did. It seems obvious the “powers that be” do not get what has been going on in resistance-type movements. People are going to vote against those who are assholes.
