Sadly, my town’s Democratic committee cross-endorsed more than one Republican for 2025 municipal slate. I argued we should let no Republican go unchallenged, but hardly any Dems agreed, and no one stepped up to challenge these well-liked Republicans. We’re a heavily 💙 town. I guess they feel safe.

Town committee members are elected in a caucus in January of every even-numbered year. In-person voting only. Not many people know about it, and it’s inconvenient if not an actual hardship to come out on a freezing night.

Nope. Just households with at least 1 Republican voter in 2016 or 2020. The intent was clearly to drive Republican voter turnout. No canvass lists in my county contained Dem or Independent voters. I walked away from my role as precinct chair.

Huh. I’ve never been a precinct captain, not even sure we have them in CT since there’s no county government (it’s all town by town). So I don’t know much abt that. I door knock for Congresswoman Jahana Hayes and the rest of the 💙 ballot. They send me to addresses w/at least 1 💙 voter.

In Missouri, you either run as one of three recognized parties that have achieved ballot status or you’re a write-in candidate. It’s Democrat, Republican, or Libertarian. You don’t need the blessing of the party per se but you have to pick a label. This varies by state, so fifty sets of rules.

Start by getting out the Democratic voters! Call them. Ask them their PLAN on voting. Are they registered? (Check it right there!) Do they know their polling place, the hours, what's on the ballot? (Have that info with you.) Do they need a ride? Discuss it often with them & check on election day!

As a former Missourian, I know the state is heavily gerrymandered. But state wide offices like governor, senator and attorney general etc, which gerrymandering doesn’t affect, are consistently going to the republicans, that tells me that there are too many Dems not voting.
