Town committee members are elected in a caucus in January of every even-numbered year. In-person voting only. Not many people know about it, and it’s inconvenient if not an actual hardship to come out on a freezing night.
My district had us canvass republican voters and ignore democratic voters altogether. It's clear that the decision-makers in the Democratic party are more comfortable with Republicans than progressives. Even now.

Nope. Just households with at least 1 Republican voter in 2016 or 2020. The intent was clearly to drive Republican voter turnout. No canvass lists in my county contained Dem or Independent voters. I walked away from my role as precinct chair.

Huh. I’ve never been a precinct captain, not even sure we have them in CT since there’s no county government (it’s all town by town). So I don’t know much abt that. I door knock for Congresswoman Jahana Hayes and the rest of the 💙 ballot. They send me to addresses w/at least 1 💙 voter.
That's what I expected. I canvassed for local candidates in the past. This was my first election as an elected PC. It was a heartbreaking experience. Dem voters share most of my values and vision, but Party leaders simply do not.

In Missouri, you either run as one of three recognized parties that have achieved ballot status or you’re a write-in candidate. It’s Democrat, Republican, or Libertarian. You don’t need the blessing of the party per se but you have to pick a label. This varies by state, so fifty sets of rules.

Talking to a MAGA is hard. Find their 1 BIG issue & start there. Listen. I try to get the conversation to healthcare. My son lives in Japan. He had knee surgery (7 days in hospital)$435! His taxes aren't horrible and he isn't bankrupt! The rich make $ off our illness! It gets them thinking.
Start by getting out the Democratic voters! Call them. Ask them their PLAN on voting. Are they registered? (Check it right there!) Do they know their polling place, the hours, what's on the ballot? (Have that info with you.) Do they need a ride? Discuss it often with them & check on election day!
Donate, volunteer, follow them on social media and engage with their content.
We need the candidate first. How do you get people to run?

As a former Missourian, I know the state is heavily gerrymandered. But state wide offices like governor, senator and attorney general etc, which gerrymandering doesn’t affect, are consistently going to the republicans, that tells me that there are too many Dems not voting.
Even if the democrats can’t win at least they are offering an alternative to the republican bs. Maybe it can start waking up some people to other options. Focus must be on daily living, like food costs, medical care, and education. Stay away from cultural issues—turns them off immediately. mo
We need a protest where people everywhere don’t have to go anywhere. Just tell them that on one particular day, we need everyone who cares to go outside wherever they are and just stand there for 15 minutes.
Whether you are at home, out shopping, or at work, just go outside.
This way people can see how many people actually care and that they are not alone.
