I am as white and hillbilly as they come, and even I wouldn’t claim Cracker Barrel as my culture…
I am as white and hillbilly as they come, and even I wouldn’t claim Cracker Barrel as my culture…
When I say I am a hillbilly, I mean it quite literally. It was my high school mascot. Ozark, Arkansas.
Not to be confused with the Monticello Billy Goats.
Hey, being a Hillbilly doesn't mean you have to be stupid. Take for example you, and the "Trillbillies Workers Party"! You go! www.youtube.com/watch?v=SugM...
Totally! The ignorant ones just get all the credit!
The minor league team in Marion, IL are the Thrillbillies.
I love Ozark and that little café downtown that I can't remember the name of. It's been a while!
Yup.. see below substack.com/home/post/p-...
I'd concur. It's a commercial establishment. I eat there. I don't pray, celebrate, or study there. 🙄
Aux arc!
Jess, I’m so white, I’m nearly translucent. The was a CB across the street from where I’ve been buying groceries for the 30 years. I never so much as looked at the place until it was closed and converted into a sushi place. Claiming it as my culture is as if saying my culture is eating turds.
😆
Plus Cracker Barrel is in the big cities. WTF.
No logo change or DEI positive declaration will ever get me to eat at CB. 🤢
I think of Cracker Barrel as more of suburban thing. The good stuff is some roadside shack with a name like Eddie's Burgers, Parker's BBQ or Beckie's Pies and doesn't even have a logo. (These are all real places I've been lol)
I’m from a town of 714 in NE Texas…My mom and step dad once managed his family’s property in Lamar, MO…My first “govt. issued photo ID” was from MO, I took my written DL test in Joplin at 15. Outside the HS mascot, I understand. 🤣🤣
People in Joplin think that Olive Garden is Italian food and my MAGA family will only eat at places like Chili’s or Cheddars. My parents went to Hawaii and went to Outback Steakhouse. This IS their heritage and culture. They won’t touch ANY Mexican, Thai, or anything they consider unAmerican food.
Oh how I miss being stationed on Guam. The island food was amazing. I would eat Thai, Mexican, Philippino, and Chamorro food any time of the week….burp….excuse me..☺️.
My wife and I have been exploring Mexico since early May. Talk about an unexpected culinary experience!
I miss being in the Middle East because the food was amazing. I was stationed at an airbase with a lot of countries represented and the Italians set up a pizzeria. The best chow hall was the South Korean one next to their hospital. And the local made felafel is something I really miss.
Oh how I miss Korean food too. I just couldn’t name them all since we don’t have enough room to post here. Love me some Kimchi. If you haven’t tried foreign cuisine, you really don’t know what you’re missing…..OMG!
I still have a Korean MRE that they gave me back in 2004. They gave me two but I only ate one of them and it was hard to believe it was an MRE! It says it expired in 2005 but I bet it would still be better than any of the “food” in American MRE’s.
Some MRE’s that I had while on Guam during a typhoon were good but, yeah you’re right, the Korean MRE was the bomb! I’ve always wanted to be stationed in S. Korea but they never had any billets opened up for Navy Yeoman’s. But, Hashing was fun there, if you ever heard of it.
Thankfully due to a younger spouse my dad has made an EXTREME shift to at least center which is progress but maternally this would be my exact experience. “Applebees is a nice family dinner” kind of thing. lol
Same, except from a town of 910 in NE Kansas and moved to Joplin in 1985. Joplin is one of the biggest towns I know of with small town hillbilly attitudes. We have 6 Walmarts and 3 Chick-fil-A’s for a town of 50K. 🤣
Norma Rae was a hillbilly too.😊
Hey from Fayetteville
Homie! Fordyce “Redbug” here - Always glad when intellect, substance and heart survive the tribulation of the “land of opportunity” - My escape in 1982 was narrow but permanent. Thank you for standing in the gap.
I am really not much more than an upjumped hillbilly with three degrees. I kept all the meanness of being born and raised that way into adulthood.
It must have been too hard for them to fit three yachts on a logo.
I don't remember ever seeing a Cracker Barrel in my life (and I'm old). I've always been under the impression they're in malls, is that true? Are they a regional brand?
I am amused at how many people are so upset by this logo change like Cracker Barrel had always come to Sunday dinner at 5pm with their famous casserole and then suddenly told you to fuck off cause they wanted to eat avocado toast with transgender athletes in a diverse socialist community instead.
Everything in our culture came from somewhere else (except indigenous influence... thanks for the 🍿). There is no such thing as pure Americana.
I did grow up in the 60’s and my parents would stop at Stuckeys and my mom would buy a pecan roll.
Southern born and reared and refuse to eat at that shit hole. It's like Yankees are trying to convince people they can make biscuits. They just don't have it.
There is a reason why some Europeans say that the US has no real culture. It is of course not true, but stuff like this doesn't help.
As a west-coast guy who travelled across the south, it wasn't Cracker Barrel that surprised me, it was these guys. Not exactly known for a healthy menu.
Hey-Waffle House is culture. I now need a pecan waffle stat.
I did stop at a couple for breakfast. I just stuck to waffles, eggs and bacon which were actually quite good. The biscuits and gravy with a side of grits was beyond my level of culinary understanding. What surprised me was there are almost as many of these down there as Starbucks in Seattle.
This has nothing to do with their logo or their heritage. It's a direct DEI attack on their CEO who is a highly qualified woman.
Now THAT makes more sense than a ridiculous attack on their logo.
Unspoken there is that someone (aka leftist libs, antifa, immigrants, and the press) are to blame. Blaming someone, anyone, is the fuel for MAGA fury. Question: that guy is your heritage?
Cracker Barrel is the event horizon of the culture wars
LMAO! I was born in Alabama and raised in Alabama, Georgia and Florida and never even heard of Cracker Barrel until I moved to Colorado. Besides, a giant corporation as part of a heritage??? Seriously???
First it wuz the jawbs now they are takin our restrahnts
Me neither!
Just so you're aware: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cracker...
"But my biscuits and gravy! It's my culture! How dare you take the man and barrel away from me!" The things they will take to the hill where they want to die, is absolutely amazing in it's stupidity.
CB makes white gravy from ham. Who does that? It's nasty. And, people are stupid.
I agree on all these points.
I miss the low price fad of yesteryears. Trump says those days are gone. THE GOLDEN AGE IS COMING. In two weeks.
Jr. Trump stands up for CB, you know they are Fake.
They have no idea what their culture actually is besides racism and bigotry.
Colon Barrel
you may come from, and live in whitehillbillyville, but you're clearly not of the character and intellectual makeup of whitehillbillyville.
These are people who live in constant fear of change -- any change. It's a fear that tRump certainly tapped into. Many of us feel the world moves a little too fast at times & real historical artifacts are worth preserving. Cracker Barrel's white-washed Southern Americana fantasy world, not so much.
Because you are smart and actually respect the feelings of others.💙💙💙
This is so damn funny! 😂🤣
Culture, that’s funny. Cracker Barrel is owned by investors that made money on someone else’s culture. O well.
Not white, just dumber than rocks, which admittedly 2/3 are white no question. But they don’t have a monopoly on stupid, plenty of candidates in every race color & creed. We are a severely brain damaged country for a broad variety of reasons: Alcohol & drug abuse damage Pollutants & contaminants
Micro plastic consolidation in our brains Long Covid brain damage Education defunding & ineffective methods Poor Nutrition Everything plays a role & collectively have an impact on what is a decline in our intelligence quotient. We are literally getting dumber, like Alzheimers or Dementia.
Wait, his name is Starbuck?
The word you’re looking for here is pathetic.
If you know real hillbilly or country cooking, you would NEVER eat at Cracker Barrel. It used to be a good stop for a bathroom break but lately they are always trashed.
I like it. Doesn’t look like a set from “Hoarders” on one of those off channels Dr Phil’s promotes.
Truth be told!😂🤣 an educated American who actually knows that ‘culture’ means more than a logo with a barrel picture!
And I want my Bakers Square back.
I think I have eaten at one in all my years.
And I don't remember asking Cracker Barrel to change their logo! So why in the hell are Democrats being blamed for this BS, again? Could it be the #ReleaseTheEpsteinFiles?
I am pissed about Arthur Treacher’s closing. Who did that?
Still got the sawmill biscuits and gravy. Still got the endless line of front porch rocking chairs. Still got the kitschy salt and pepper shakers. Still reminds me of my white great-grandparents' house in the Appalachian foothills. Is the logo the part of the culture they're worried about?
Oh it's cause Black people work there, I see
"nostalgic Americana" where the KKK went for brunch...
I am seventy years old, have lived in six states and visited around thirty, and I have never seen a Cracker Barrel restaurant. I didn't know they existed before this latest Republican faux outrage bullshit.
We are certainly looking for distractions from djt 's evil & corrupt inposition of fascism. Eight months ago, a company legitimately wanting to update their logo would have merited a note in MSM. Today it has prompred mindless concern. Wake up America! Democracy is being burned to the ground
Yea man I have ask on Bluesky a few times what exactly are they upset about? I haven't gotten one answer. We are living in the stupidest of times.
Right, I’m from a small town of 900. Surrounded by wheat fields, I’ve been maybe twice…
The tacky gift shop is pretty darn American, really.
I say with pride that I’ve never set foot in a Cracker Barrel. Or a Hooters. 🎉🎉🎉
It was my favorite restaurant when my family was paying for dinner. Other than that, what was Cracker Barrel even? I only remember a restaurant with a gift shop
Only been to 1, Gallup NM. Had green chili chicken, NM is known for green chili, with beans and rice. It was very good. Guess it is/was special that day.
I bet my maga hat most of these "offended" people haven't been to a Cracker Barrel in years if ever...I'm pretty sure they prefer Denny's, IHOP or other.
Same. It's a place to get a good chicken fried steak, not a cultural icon.
Weirdos. I’m a 4 th generation American and I’ve never been to a Cracker Barrel. Is it like the Olive Garden or the Cheesecake Factory? A chain that serves 3000 calorie meals ?
One branch of our family came over in the late 1600's and early 1700's, and I've never eaten there nor even once considered it "my culture" lol
We were Portuguese and Swiss but our family meals out were always at an Italian restaurant called Bancheros in Hayward. It’s all American😁lol
😂😂
C'mon, it's right there in the name of the restaurant.
I ate a “veggie” plate for dinner over 10 years ago. Basically it’s opening up 3 cans of veggies and dumping them on a plate. Not fresh.
If that's all they have, maybe it's just time for them all to walk into the sea and hope Jesus takes them. Or Cthulhu.
Lamberts pass around fried okra and thrown rolls for me any day.
Same!!
It's like the Southerners wailing over the Confederacy, a period that lasted all of 4 years. What DID go on for a loooong time was slavery. And Jim Crow. That's what they're really nostalgic for.
Sadly, there are MANY people, mainly in the south, who refuse to believe/accept the confederacy ended. A contributing factor to the asshat in chief.
The "glorious heritage" of the south was poverty, hunger, early death, rampant disease, women dying in childbirth...pretty much like the Depression. Many folk still live like that.
So, wait, they’re mad because the new logo makes them read the text without the illustration? Or because they kept the barrel shape but deep-sixed the cracker?
I ate in one once when visiting a friend in Georgia who said it was just the best with such a fantastic gift shop (of knockoff Americana) in the entrance.
Taco, Indian, or Soul food trucks are better anyways
who effin cares? seriously with all the horror in this country, This is what people get upset about, Not the Pedophile president - our president is a Pedophile, and the republicans, conservatives and the MEDIA are Protecting him!! PROTECTING him!!! #pedophilepresident –
They’re talking as if they moved the original Cracker Barrel out West in covered wagons.
American Culture is an oxymoron FOX made this into a national crisis. Slow day or heaps of bad news for their overlord.
But it is their culture, just look at the politics of the founder of Cracker Barrel Dan Evins. He was reportedly notoriously racist and very anti-Gay.
Southern Ah-hi-ah, here, northern border of the hills, and I avoid CB as fake culture (not not the best food) And for those who don't know, that's how we say Ohio south of Columbus...
Fuck their heritage.
They do got good baby carrots 🤷♀️😝
I’ll be at Waffle House y’all
As old as I am, I have never in my life been to a Cracker Barrel. I dont think that will change now.
Me neither.
Capitalism did it! Not "the woke"! Look at every logo ever. We used to have unique and cool looking shit. Now it's all sanitized into boring, homogenous, corporate slop to try and appeal to literally everyone That's why commercial music sucks. That's why ai art sucks. It's all a formula for profit
A few years earlier, people were getting unglued because they added veggie sausage to their menu. Regular sausage was still available, but they got angry anyway. www.cnn.com/2022/08/04/b...
Damn them!
The Cracker Barrel controversy as political is so stupid. Cracker Barrel had a winning formula as a business. It sold nostalgia and it was always busy. Did new ownership or leadership just get bored? Who cares? Businesses do this all the time. It's not political. It probably is a bad business move.
It is kinda sad.. the American corporate structure stripped white peoples of their culture when they emigrated for exactly this purpose though.. They turned white America into a homogenous corporate bootlicking blob whose culture is consumerism through stripping our individual national identities.
It’s also sad that the vast majority of white peoples in this country don’t realize that their cultural identity was stolen from them by Robber barons and industrialists so they could distill a consumer class
How anyone can claim a chain restaurant as "their" culture or heritage is beyond me
In other words, the change in one restaurant over shadows people being dragged off the street and thrown into detentions camps, the militarization of our cities, and the normalizing of the bullshit coming from our demented POTUS. Pathetic people.
I have ALWAYS disliked that place!
I can say, as a traveler north to south and east to west of the United States I have NEVER stopped at a Cracker Barrel. Oh yea, I'm 99% white & 1% black. It's the "Country Market" that's put me off. I don't like stuff that collects dust and spiders where I eat my food.
First time I ate at one I had chicken rice soup, and it was really good. I thought maybe it's not garbage after all, then the rest of the meal came.
Did the rest have grits!!!!
Ha! The fried okra was cold and tasteless and the dumplings was just wet flour.
That's just as disgusting as I thought it would be. I'm sorry but remember, you took one so that the rest of us won't have to. Thank you for your service and your full and complete audit report!
It was also the last time I've eaten at one. How can the soup be so good by the rest suck?
You know the soups, they use the old stuff they don't want to toss out. Old chicken, old veggies.
Good one
I never knew what a Cracker Barrel was until a few days ago. Just as well.
Cracker Barrell is fake Americana that uses nostalgia for a "simpler time" that never really existed to sell you stuff. People believe the fiction just like they think the Americana at Disney is real. Politicians sell u this 2. That "simpler time" wasn't so great for women, minorities, LGBTQ folks
It's basically Olive Garden for Southern American food
🎯
That last one is the point. They think “America was Great” when cops could pulverize black people with impunity for drinking from the same water fountain as you, women couldn’t vote or “have a headache” and it was socially acceptable to hit kids over small things and disown them for being gay
It’s a corporate chain.
What does changing the logo to something simpler have to do with culture? The logo they're changing was only introduced in the the late 70's. Not exactly a historical artifact. On another note, some cultures you need not maintain. ie.. Lynchings and incest.
Cracker Barrel logo issues seem like a genuine distraction. If you like Cracker Barrel, go eat there. Not difficult or related to a logo on a sign ffs
As a white Californian, my true culture is Taco Bell and underaged, shoulder-tap beer from 7-11. You can take those from my cold, dead, hands pal.
Put the “cracker” back in the barrel! 😆
Honestly..who CARES about cracker barrel? Nobody i know in real life gives half a shit what that place does
We would run neck and neck for "hillbilly as they come." Grandma Muncy lived in a holler in a log cabin with Aunt Lida and honey was in a jar with the comb.
went to Cracker Barrel a few months ago, looking for a good breakfast. It was mediocre
The "food" there is godawful.
They removed the Cracker from the barrel.
I prefer places like Gray’s.
It’s a restaurant, and not a particularly good one at that. I get it maybe there are people who really like it. The cornbread is semi adequate, the fried chicken is tasty, albeit greasy, but dang if you’re going to have a hill to fight and die on…
remember, there are people out there that think Famous Dave's is top notch BBQ. Stupidity and tastelessness is an endless well.
There is that. I know it comes down to personal taste, but I think if I was gonna find a hill to fight and die on, I’d want it to be a really good hill!
as far as chains go, i *really* like Church's biscuits for some reason, but I'm not gonna chirp bout biscuit culture. I'm all for culture change in fact. My dad farmed with mules til his late teens. I'm NOT about mule farming culture or milking cows by hand.
Churches does make a pretty darn good biscuit. And having milk a few cows in my time, I can tell you I am also not in a rush to throw down about cow culture..
Gee, how do those folks who are regulars at The Waffle House feel about whitebread collapsing culture? 🤣🤣🤣
Neither does Starbuck. He's from California but moved to Tennessee cause he thought we were a monolith. He's having to stay in his safe bubble.
We had a Rooster as our mascot…. Also Missouri!
My eyes automatically rolled hard when I read that their name was Starbuck? Really? Can’t make this shit up anymore.
Article dated July 27, 2025. They're still upholding their DEI program, unlike, say, PBS. Maybe a little credit would encourage them to keep up the good work. www.thestreet.com/restaurants/...
A fucking capitalistic brand is culture? Spoiler alert: we have no culture. Everything is a marketing campaign.
It's as fake as Disney, no, more. and practically new!
🤣🤣🤣
It’s a fucking LOGO for Christ’s sake! 😂 looks a lot like the old one too 🤷♂️
😂😂😂heritage😂😂Cracker Barrel has only existed since 1969…that’s a hella long heritage…cracker-ass crackers 😂😂
Well, now. It *does* have a new sign, so ... Never mind.
They are acting like they can no longer get dumplings or biscuits or okra there.
Most of the idiots complaining about Cracker Barrel don’t go there. It’s just another BS give me some attention and leave my convicted felon alone.
I’m paste white and liked the CB chicken and dumplings and the gift shop. Was it “culture”? Hell no.
bsky.app/profile/libf...
Their imagined victimhood is mind-boggling.
I just never got why folks are upset about that cracker barrel sign change.
so dumb
Isn’t it just a damn restaurant? Why do Magats make drama out of stupid shit? This is definitely more important than the fact that trump is a pedo. 🙄 #TrumpEpstein
As a white hillbilly who grew up near Lake of the Ozarks, I gotta say that's like claiming giant sunglasses, corn cob pipes, felt hillbilly hats "patched" (needlessly) with more bright-colored felt, and salt and pepper shakers shaped like outhouses as my culture. We LAUGHED at that kitschy stuff...
Bless their CB hearts. CB is like every tourist trap in the US where you leave through the gift shop where everything there is made in china.
My favorite Cracker Barrel memory is when the server took my ketchup to give to another table when I hadn't finished my meal.
I hear ya! I love the gift shops... but the carbs, salt and sugar makes this southern mama blush. In any case, it's as culture to the south as bush light is to a European beer drinker. These were initially road side tourist traps.
How tragically white bread vanilla nothing does one need to be to claim Cracker Barrel as your culture?
What does that even mean? How is Cracker Barrel a culture? This sounds really weird. In other words they have no culture and are just grabbing for anything to get attention. Pathetic.😂 It’s the same as saying McDonald’s is my culture and I don’t want white peoples in there. They are culture less 🤣
Amen Sistah! I have Appalachian roots. The maternal side came to the big city in the Fulton Bag mill migration. Mama's name was Snowie. That's about as white as you can get. Cracker Barrel is far removed....
I don’t blame you.
Me either. The whole thing just cracks me up and just proves how desperate they are for something to bitch about. Every week it's something new. White people are having a problem grappling with their own absurdities And calling cracker barrel your culture is the height of absurd.
Epstein Barrel is hiring.
Now they're taking away the African American museum from us.
It's MacDonald's with merch and rocking chairs. It belongs to the culture of capitalism, nothing else.
Ok, they need better food
Same here. From OK and my family is from Arkansas and Mississippi. We never claimed a culture, other than fun language and amazing recipes. No flags or hillbilly restaurants as identity, and no Trump, thank god.
Thank you Jess! Australian here, and despite many posts on the topic, I couldn’t work out what Cracker Barrel actually was! It’s a brand of cheese here, and definitely not what anyone should claim as their culture.
They have lousy breakfast foods....but good chicken and dumplings! BTW, haven't been to one in a couple of years because it's just too religious, corny, fake patriotism BS
They have confused Cracker Barrel with Waffle House. Know where real folks go, for goodness sake.
Remember … Sambos.? It changed to..? Anyone..? And why was it changed…?
PC bastards ruin everything!
🤦♂️
These people are having an extended fascism orgasm yet are still complaining about some restaurant logo.
There they go projecting again.
Mediocre is kind.
I, myself, have fond memories of 2AM breakfasts at Denny's after a night of partying. Iconic moments in my life, for sure. But as an adult, I sadly realize that all things pass, and life goes on in idealy new and better ways.
Seasoned fries with ranch and a coffee. Heck yeah.
I do not have fond memories of waiting on the drunks at 2 AM but I needed to pay for grad school so I worked at Denny's. I was grateful for the free meal they provided at the end of the shift though.
We were generally high, but not drunk, so we ate a LOT, and tipped really well. I was a waitress myself, and I feel ya, 100%.
I wish I had thought of going to work stoned.
LOL. That's why the stop at Denny's. I started work at 5AM, and I had to be sober. Nothing like a high-protein breakfast to bring a pothead down to earth. And copious amounts of really bad coffee, of course.
Just left the kitchen where there are biscuits and bacon in the oven, hand shredded hash browns with onions in a giant cast iron skillet and there will be eggs cooking to order soon. You inspired me. Also, it was too hot out there to do yard work. I'm also stoned.
Rhubarb & Mixed Berry Hand Pies coming in up! YOU have enspired me - thank you for that.
Denny’s after the bars closed: until social media, I never ran into others with this history. Which is weird, because I experienced it with two different crowds in two different cities (the second one was a Denny’s with a bar in the back) 1/2
The Denny's with the bar in the back.....was it El Cajon CA?
Seattle's Aurora Avenue. When we wanted no-id drinks we went to the International District. There was this amazing place that had awesome food. By Ujimayas. Good times.
Interesting....both on the west coast.....top and bottom wonder if there were other Denny's with a bar attached
Denver, near west side. I worked evening shift; we would head to Denny’s after work.
Thanks sure hope more are mentioned...
Seattle's The Dog House.
While I look back fondly on those times, I don’t get defensive about any changes Denny’s makes.
I love how white people are up in arms over Cracker Barrel changing their logo but are just fine with the president and Repub governors aggressively working to erase the horrors of slavery in our history books and museums.
It’s a perfect litmus test for racism
I’m sorry, but this is so fake. The sofa would be on the front porch if this were real. 😆
For real! And where's the mattress springs?
I enjoy a road trip stop at CB for a tasty meal and some knick knacks, but culture it is not.
It’s all props! Just marketing… nostalgia doesn’t sell any more.
You will never marginalize a restaurant chain serving affordable comfort food with a rural Americana motif into insignificance. Take Stuckey's, for example.
A culture who think mayo is spicy. 🙄
Please…. How ridiculous
OMG, please don't tell anyone that the few times I've been there I have liked the food!
It’s not my “culture,” but I’ve enjoyed many a meal there. I love their hash brown casserole, their pancakes, and chicken fried chicken. This whole signage and decor issue is ridiculous, but it doesn’t make you white trash to enjoy their food on occasion.
Ain't got none of that backwoods junk here in Dago!
I only step foot in a cracker barrel as last resort while traveling. Last time I was in one, it felt old, creepy, dirty, mediocre food.
Cracker Barrel is a second rate diner with a cool gift shop and nice enough to let RVers use the parking lot overnight. Saying it is someone’s culture is like saying iHop is someone’s culture.
Makes you wonder what would happen if Waffle House incorporated rainbows in their branding.
Jess, I hate that place. The last time I went was with brother’s in-laws in about 2013. It was terrible and tacky.
America’s table😂😂. Starbuck’s is ours I guess and what about Macdonald’s?
Actually I even argue with the hillbilly it’s not even really the grits it those hash browns 😂
People that are fucking up America are complaining that America is being fucked up

I never cared for their food
They served food?
I think MAGAts are upset with the logo change (BIGGEST snowflakes ever!) bsky.app/profile/iveh...
Hope they did was have a picture changed. Why is that stripping culture? So weird.
you kids out there aren’t gonna believe this but there was a time in america where a corporation would do a thing and half of the population did not suffer an apoplectic fit over the corporation’s doing of that thing
It's one of the craziest things I've encountered. A freaking sign. The restaurant is still the same. Weirdos!
I don't like canned chicken in my dumplings.
Was Bigot Barrel already taken?
Last year I believe they made a comment about Pride and celebrating their workers and they got backlash then too. This is an example of the right AGAIN forgetting that they already gave up on their previous outrage.
A few years ago, there was a push for a local restaurant called the “Honky Bucket.” You can’t make this shit up.
Gold ⭐️ star
cracker barrel has been the restaurant for racists a very long time. it got packed every time church let out... those making a fuss over this planned change are only revealing themselves as racists because nobody else gives a shit about their obvious pandering
Streamlining a business logo is hardly the same as threatening an entire culture! So don't worry, Cracker Barrel lovers! Nobody's keeping anybody from eating a heart-attack-on-a-plate, if they want to. Carry on, as long as you can.
As if a private corporate business owes anything to anyone but its shareholders or would make decisions otherwise. Even more hilarious in all this uproar that the rebrand literally took the cracker and the barrel out of its design.
Too bad nursing home residents and those still living at home are discussed. Nope. We built this country but have no rights. Foster kids are so mistreated, nobody cares, Cracker Barrell changes its look and everybody goes nuts. Pat
Right!? Weirdos desperately searching for shit to be outraged over
The first restaurant opened in 1969. WTF he this guy talking about Americana history like it’s been around since the civil war? Lunatics!
It’s all the antiques they hang inside for him confused
MAGA snowflakes can't handle change. They want to return to the good old days... like 1725 when only landed white men had power.
Cracker Barrel in my town is terrible and has been for over a decade.
I always wanted one of those rocking chairs they had and the gift shop was fun. The food was mid at best. I literally don’t care what they do or don’t do.
Cracker Barrel is to southern culture as au bon pain is to French culture and Bennigans is to Irish culture… it’s a commercial theme chain restaurant
Cracker B began in 1969 not 1809 😂
What is the opposite of woke? Coma?
Same here
Having obliterated the cultures of the indigenous peoples from what is now the US, we have no culture or traditions that were not brought here by immigrants…so what is this “ours” of which you speak?
If Cracker Barrel is your culture, you have no culture. This manufactured outrage was brought to you by the same people who got angry because the green m&m wasn't sexy enough. Just to put it in perspective.
I've lived in MO all of my life thus far, and I've eaten at a Cracker Barrel exactly 3 times.
Me too. I used to be a Shoneys fan until they closed the one near us in Omaha.
I'm not very hillbilly but very white and I'll admit I've been to Cracker Barrel a few times, and it just wasn't very good. I'd rather to to a Waffle House that should tell you something 😆
Cracker Barrel was a commodification of a culture turned to 11. For some to claim it as a part of a culture shows their lack of historic perspective... and that seems to fit.
I call this the "strip mall culture" of white people in our country. Not sure how we're supposedly losing that. After all, strip mall construction continues exponentially
It's remarkable that Cracker Barrel went from being a gotta-find-a-place-to-eat-along-the-interstate to being a cultural symbol.🙄
It's like how Neo-Confederates will cling to the Confederate flag as a symbol of their culture and history, even though the southern states have existed mostly for nearly 400 years and that moment in their history represents just 4 of those years.
Since when is Cracker Barrel culture?
I know, right? Bland mashed potatoes and depression era meatloaf doth not a culture make.
And it it does, your “culture” sucks.
I mean, when I was young, something like garlic was for canning dill pickles or used extremely sparingly when you made something exotic like lasagna. Hamburgers were cooked to within an inch of their existence, etc. I get WHY they did that to beef, but yea. Rearview mirror that shit forever.
I'm a member of the "woke" crowd, and I LOVE CB food! Everything on the menu says "comfort food" to me! (BTW, yes, I boycotted them in the 90s and early oughts when they were accused of being anti-gay and racist. Seems to me that the founder becoming the late founder has eliminated those issues)
I looked up their menu, their mac n cheese looks slimier than Kraft
Starbuck(?) The Billionaire who ran for president bc he didn’t want to pay taxes… pretends he has a “culture”.. chain coffee crap… 🤣🤣🤣 .. what a con lying pos
Ruining other food cultures with mediocre chain restaurants is kind of an American specialty
Same here.

Yes! It’s all about saving money: fewer colors and fewer logo elements are less expensive to produce
Not just that. It's just a step in a longer cycle, because next thing you know they bring the old barrel dude back for "our signature heritage something or other line of classic products" and what not.
New Coke comes to mind. People didn’t like new coke, but it created quite a stir and then they switched back.
Yeah.. except that back then it would have been just this, a more or less successful experiment with brand revamping, and maybe material for some lazy stand up comedian, "so what's with the new coke, huh?" Now there's an entire outrage manufacturing industry kicking into high gear.
How old were you in 1985? Was New Coke the hot topic for you & your friends? With strangers? Were you in a sold-out Astro crowd that roared disapproval during Coke ads? And were you one of 1000+s who called Coke daily, demanding The Real Thing return? Compare riled up Crackers to that & we'll talk
I'm not sure what your point is. Are you saying that the current thing is ALSO just a big marketing operation, and those people talking about "stealing their culture" are totally on it? Also, are you comparing _a different product_ replacing the current one with _refreshed logotype_? I'm a bit lost.
Perhaps you don't remember it well. After Coke gave us New Coke,The Real Thing was sold only until Coke ran out. Then our only option was New Coke or Pepsi. I can tell you the exact date when I drank the last REAL Coke from the two cases I had hoarded.
I’ve never been a drinker of coke (or any sugary carbonated beverage). I was in my early 20s when the new coke came out & there was a lot of talk about the new coke. So much so that even non-pop drinking persons like myself heard about it. I heard it tasted more like Pepsi, then it abruptly ended.
When young Cracker was a white Person, usually man. Oreo was a black man Running w whites bc They were insecure & In UK, cracker, was white trash. Going to assume Cracker Barrel, was Meant to say, White Trash..a truck stop Oasis. Rarely eat out, but on the road, I prefer Bob Evans 99% Democrat
How can it be the Cracker Barrel without a cracker and a barrel. Let's just call it "another giant restaurant chain."
