Missouri voters overwhelmingly approved earned sick time last November. Governor Mike Kehoe and Missouri Republicans signed away that right. Corporations won. Working Missourians lost.  This is an actual email forwarded to me from an employee of a company removing earned sick time.

The only silver lining in this blatant disregard of the voters' stated wishes is that it *might* lead the voters to ditch the current state government.
Governor and Republicans are sick.....and should be voted out, removed for being a corporate shill. Maybe one day, Missouri voters will wake up (from being sick of bad government) and STOP voting against their own interest (aka stop voting for Republicans).

About 30 years ago the AZ leg did something similar, didn't repeal, but changed a voter-passed initiative so much it was dead. The next cycle we passed the Voter Protection Act. Any voter-initiative could only be changed by voters OR 3/4 maj of leg for amend that furthers the purpose of the law 1/

Be aware that earned sick time is an expense that by accounting rules must be accrued (saved) for by the orgn for the workers. Removing that accrual causes those $$ to go back to the orgn. It is a financial windfall for the orgn. That $ should be given to the workers.

Unfortunately, this was approved by voters as a statutory initiative, rather than a constitutional amendment, so the Missouri legislature could legally overturned it. It’s not going to make them popular among the thousands of workers affected. So much for the working class.

After 6 months of Continuing employment in any employment state semi-state private. An employee is entitled to sick leave 3 days without certificate from doctor or certified for longer up to 6 weeks. After 1 year. Or 18 months if the employee is having a child. Up to months maternity leave. 🇪🇺🇮🇪
