I’m amazed that someone this shortsighted can stay in business.

Most businesses are run by just some guy.

The short sightedness of right wing small business owners is why Go Fund Me ended up as a widely used life insurance policy in rural areas during COVID.

Like at least pirates wore earrings to pay for their funeral expenses. These guys have boats and Harley’s and f 150s and not a fucking dime saved anywhere for their families to pay for their caskets.

Funny was assessing his custom kitchen as he was talking and wondering what he owes on that with the granite countertops and special spice or knife cabinet.

Everyone knows they are going to die and most people have the option of buying life insurance.

Which is kind of the point not scrapping those system would have allowed everyone to make better plans and have more lead time on a pandemic

It has nothing to do with farmers in rural areas not buying life insurance and being forced to use gofundme

They weren’t forced to use go fund me when they could have purchased a life insurance policy at any time that would have cost less than the monthly maintenance for a boat or motorcycle.

I don't think making stupid financial decisions is a quality unique to farm owners.

You brought them up, not me. I specifically used “small business owners” to mean exactly that.

To be fair to idiots, though, they never had to really think about it before. And it's easy to believe what someone tells you if you've never thought about it before.

100%. He has probably only thought about taking orders and ordering supplies. People usually don’t think much beyond the next step in their supply chain.

Governments are there to do the boring stuff so that that stuff will be reliable, predictable, and easy. Not enough people appreciate the boring stuff.

Only despise it for the undeserving Wilhoits law: Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.
