Fondant fancies. Word. π°
Confession - I don't actually know what they are.
????????
They're also called French fancies.
No wiser. A sort of iced bun, I'm guessing?
Looked them up. TINY iced buns.
With the blob of sweet stuff in to.
How have you got through life never having one?
I'm northern.
I used to work in Sayers in Liverpool, and we sold fondant fancies.
Gosh.
They were a standard in cake shops (because they keep) and actually scorned, compared to fresh cream cakes.
The great thing about them is that, because they are completely iced, they keep. Like wedding and Christmas cake, but lighter. Although, as they are very moreish, they donβt really need to.
A cube of sponge often with a dollop of apricot jam on top, not enough buttercream in the middle, covered in a thick, soft icing paste. There are also evil versions with marzipan.
Marzipan is straight from the devil's bottom.
Preach, sister.
There's a thought!
Way. Too. Sweet. I think I was about 8 when I last had one.
Eating an entire pack is dedication- and I have been that dedicated in my life.
I've never managed that but I do love them. Especially the pink one. I bought a giant one for my son's 0th birthday back in 2002. It was a little bit much tbh!
That is fabulous!!! Yes they do get a bit sweet after a couple.
