I'm quite new on bluesky. For the first time it strikes me, that the comments you get here smell like x. Urbanism, esp. debating cars, is being used for "culture war" political purposes. It stinks. - Why dont you have an (elevated) bike + ped. lane in this place? Weird.
Please keep in mind that Public Schools need funding. Fully funded School bus transportation would eliminate at least 60 cars of people driving their kids to school per bus. This would cut traffic down substantially twice a day. This would increase attendance in school as well.
"People not cars." Drivers are people. You know how many people are in those buses? You know how many disabled people NEED the bus? How many people are inconvenienced by closing this road to anyone not on a bike?
By the looks of that video you want to take a lane away that is used by hundreds of thousands of vehicles and change it to a bike lane that hundreds will use. Insanity

I love bikes and ride one for exercise and enjoyment...my climate is identical to Chicago...I take my bike out in April and store it in Nov. Not sure you need dedicated lanes in those winter months.
