Fuck this gay earth My time with smartphones was short and at this point I'm just gonna treat mine as a dumb modem w/o apps and go back to using a netbook and an mp3 player

I like purpose built devices way more. I just set up an mp3 player for my daughter the other day.
I like the idea of a purpose built device. What I don't like is that if one runs flat, that's it. They should be able to act as battery packs for eachother and trade charge with eachother as per USB-C standard, but they don't.
Likewise, the one mp3 player i) crave most based on its design and layout doesn't support bluetooth. I do not WANT touchscreens. I HATE them. I want big mechanical buttons. I love the layout of this thing. I just wish it had Bluetooth 5.3 Other than that, it is PERFECT
I usually use the 2000s Sony e series ones. The one she got set up with just uses AAA batteries
Also wired headphones all day
idk, I like it as a backup but if I'm *walking* somewhere and not *using a bus or a train*, the ability to turn my head freely without catching the cord on my bag has been huge for me.
See I'm not going to lie when I go backpacking that is really annoying.
There should be a buzzword-y term for this, ‘exiting the walled garden’
Buzzwords themselves are the walled garden
