Unfortunately states don't.collect.taxes on behalf of the federal government. I don't see a good practical way for states to block federal taxes..they would need to first establish the physical ability to prevent federal access inside their borders.
States can actually creatively rewrite employment law to do this. It was discussed after SALT was nerfed a few years ago, but wasn't tried because of the better-things-aren't-possible caucus. It needs to be tried.

Well the crux of the issue is that we are obligated to pay taxes to the federal government, at risk of committing a federal crime. So the state would have to be able to prevent us from being subjected to federal criminal penalties to actually cut off taxes. 1/2
However I suppose if the state at least banned companies from collecting income taxes on our behalf it might result in a pretty significant drop in tax revenue at least.
I expect the usual slew of conservative red state AGs to push laws that strip people of basic human rights, while the blue state AGs just keep looking at the rulebook for where it says a dog can’t play basketball while Airbud keeps fucking dunking on them.

Wrong. He could have directed the DOJ—technically, no restrictions. Garland and Biden both tried to conduct “business as usual”. After SCOTUS immunity decision, Biden could have immediately had troops secure them in their homes (pseudo house arrest) just to show them how insane their ruling was.
It was the business as usual thing that was the problem, wasn't it. They assumed that Trump, once defeated, would just fade away. They failed to recognise that Trump isn't playing by the old rules, and by extension nor is the GOP, and they're not going to go back to playing the old game either.
