Just opened three packs of those with my 8 year-old soon. I couldn't double dog dare him to try the gum.

That gum is probably as good as it was in 1989. Not good then either:)
This was my preferred edition of the adaptation. I liked the matte paper. The shiny paper of the deluxe edition made the colors too garish.
That’s cool! I have those saved somewhere
I remember these. I bought several despite buying the premium preboxed full set.
But how did the gum taste🤣
Awful. It would also break along jagged lines and stab the mouth to the extent of damage inflicted by Wheat Thins.
— Like gum waste? —
Don't eat the gum...
That's cool! I bought a lot of those cards back in 1989.
— I hope they paid you for it! I’ve often been disappointed by comic adaptations of movies that were based on comics. No matter the artist—even, by my favorites like Chaykin on Star Wars or Buscema on Conan. Is it the heavy-handed editorial interference that guts the soul of the original work? —
Yes, DC always paid for extra use of art like this. As to movies, they are adapted and the filmmakers want to put their own stamp on it. Often good, sometimes bad
Did the good folks at Topps pay you for that, or just kind of figure you were all part of the Batman family?
Dc was always good with payments for stuff like that back then
Oh I'm very pleasantly surprised to hear that!
