Read it or don't. I was trying to answer your questions w/o further misunderstanding. If randos make Leftists look too scary, then Dems become the only "reasonable" vote by virtue of being in the middle. Oc, estab. dems are really just fascism lite, so a vote lost to a dem is ½ a vote for fascism.

The more rando's suck up the attention, the less people are willing to listen to non-scary leftists, and the more they turn to comfortable, establish, and feckless Democrats. We need to account for that, to grow support for leftist policies. By not letting the randos control the conversation

You think they control the conversation more than Mamdani does?

I think Mamdani is hitting far above his weight class, and I'm here fore it. But that is because he is charismatic, and his ops are so fucking bad. We don't have enough highly charismatic leftists with a mic right now. Most leftists do not have Mamdani's skill, even if they match his politics.

Most people don’t have that. Liberals don’t have any enigmatic leaders right now and all the GOP has is Trump. They’ve got no one beyond that. Think about it. What liberal is truly got the juice that’s going to make people come out like say, Obama did?

Liberals don’t need charismatic leaders. They just need to be less scary than the alternatives. Being boring actually helps them. They only need enough power to garner donations, and they can get that through enertia and pointing out how scary Trump is.

Except it hasn’t. They’ve literally lost on that and are a dying party. They lost to Donald Trump twice and barely won with Biden. And that only happened because of backlash to Covid and people tying Biden to Obama. Are you seriously arguing Dems are doing fine?

They don't need to win elections to continue as a money making machine. They prob rake in the most in donations when it is close and they look like they may lose. Then their "help us protect democracy" texts get the most donations out of fear of R victory. Easy wins = less $ than tight losing races.

Ds used to be about substantially more than donations, but on the whole, those days are gone. They do next to nothing in most districts to actually organize bottom up OTHER than asking for money. Young folks like Mamdani or Abughazaleh are impressive precisely BECAUSE they take a different approach.

They certainly don't LISTEN to their base anymore, otherwise Mamdani would have the full throated support of the Dem. establishment, as would have AOC before him. Their operatives lament the lack of a strong candidate for federal elections, even as they work to sideline the most promising candidates

Ok but your solution to this problem is that we need to somehow police every single rando on multiple websites so it doesn’t make the left look bad. That is literally impossible. How do you propose we do that?

I never said I had a solution. Wish I did. I just explained some FD specific vocab. Then, someone put on a pretty clear display of Online Left behavior by acting the fool, calling me names, confusing me with someone else, etc. Until I blocked them. Then you professed confusion about my meaning.

Oh I defended you against that dude. But I also don’t think he’s actually the real problem. He’s just annoying. The left’s difficulty breaking through isn’t an optics problem. You don’t have a solution because it’s an excuse. Scapegoating one unhinged poster is the excuse to not help people by the…

Top. People horrified and offended by an unwell person posting don’t then start supporting genociding Gazans. The truth is they just do support that and have found a scapegoat to rationalize their support.

Lots of people have very little appetite for politics. And that becomes zero when people talk down to them and verbally abuse them. There is a reason Mamdani is so cheery and nice to people, and it’s not just because he’s a nice guy. being nice wins people over. And being a dick chases them away.

Acknowledging that jerk behavior pushes people away is not an excuse, it is an explanation. That someone was a jerk doesn’t justify voting badly, but they don’t need to justify their votes to us. Moving left takes time, and every jerk is a speed bump to that transition at least, or a 🛑 at worst.
