Can’t we just agree to disagree, let the Confederate States of America build a wall around themselves, and anoint king turmp? Let them cut wages and become uneducated serfs, with no health care and no retirement. And skip all the pew pews?

There's no real red or blue states. The Electoral College has basically made 1/4 the population into three times as many votes. Red states are a sea of bigots around large cities. Even Texas is easily over half Dem...if you went strictly on population and not radical gerrymandering. It's literally
gonna be house Vs house, street Vs street, town Vs town.
They already have the red states. They want it all.
The problem with that is no state is pure red or blue. Some have Democratic Governor with Republican legislature or General Assembly structures. Lots of Dems in southern states.
There were plenty of abolitionists in the South in 1862, and supporters of slavery in the North. There were lots of Germans in 1939 who did not support the Nazis. Japan was not purely behind Emperor Hirohito in his assault on Asia and the US. People fled Germany. Would recommend considering.
My grandfather’s family fled Belgium after WWI, and therefore missed the effects of WWII.
I hope it doesn't come to a civil war type thing.
That is my hope as well. I hope there is no violence. But I have no delusions that the 50 states will be united in peace and harmony, sharing common goals and values, for quite some time.
I read "Defying Hitler", by Sebastian Haffner (highly recommended)a memoir of 1930's Germany. He writes about his journey in Nazi Germany. He finally determined that the Nazis were an occupying force that had destroyed the Germany he knew, and he had to leave, he left (for good) in 1938
I’m not familiar enough with German history to know if support of Nazism was geographically evenly distributed. I suppose it was. That would be one difference with today, where there is a definite (and historical) geographical divide in political affiliation.
Lots of Blue dots in Red states, and most big cities in Red states are majority Blue. And there are lots of MAGA rural counties in Blue states. I have friends and family in Red states. But I think Red states have gone too far down the wrong path, and we cannot go down with them.
The first thing the Nazis did was complete their internal takover- that happened over a period of 5 years (1933-38)- they "nazified" politics (no party but the Nazis) the civil administration, courts, schools, media, and it became harder to hide your dissent.
I was just glancing outside after reading your post and all the others this morning, and thinking, 'it's a beautiful Sunday morning in America and look at where our thoughts and minds are.' It's just heartbreaking.
Haffner's book is basically his inner battles with dealing with the Nazi takeover. It's quite resonant with the daily struggles we all have now- accede? Give up? Fight and resist? Ignore it all? It is heartbreaking and tragic, and we may have a long way to go
Only problem with that is that the blue states would be getting attacked by groups from the red states.
Cool classism there bud, it's almost like history repeatedly proves why letting one group do this always becomes a danger for the rest It's also almost like right wingers aren't even the majority down here, they've just consolidated power with exclusivity Dipshit
