I am predicting a trade before the season starts that will include a current Sabres roster player. Most likely: Quinn or Krebs. Malenstyn is also a candidate.

Getting a top 6 whatever isn't like going to the store for milk and eggs. Somebody has to want to trade with you, that player has to be willing, if there's an NMC, to come here. It's not like the Sabres don't want to do it.
I don't know what Norris's injuries involved. I know one is his shoulder. If the same injury recurs, that's injury prone. If it's something else every time, then it's bad luck and not guaranteed to keep happening.
Our D lineup is sold this year. And that will help the goaltending. Scoring-wise we lost 48 goals scored last year but brought in 38. But preventing goals counts the same as scoring goals. If we do bring in another forward, someone has to get moved. Krebs, Quinn, somebody goes.
We did bring in a scorer in Josh Norris. Everyone likes to ignore that.

That Sabres still have deals to finish for Devon Levi and Conor Timmins. Current cap is $7.MM. They might have between $3-4MM left after. How much cap left is too much?
But with no value trades offered (we don't want more picks) we hang onto Byram for now. He could still be traded, but if he stays that's cool too.
If he wanted to jump ship why did he sign for 2 years? He is literally quoted saying he likes playing for the Sabres. This is not a JJ Peterka thing. Byram wants a Dahlin-type role. He wants to be the top-line power play guy. That's why the Sabres were cool with moving him, but only for value.
