It’s ok. I know that “trying to be a decent human” should be the bare minimum, but even that seems to be a bridge too far for too many people right now. So anybody who makes the effort to push back against the tide of hate should be thanked for being part of the solution instead of the problem.

When you understand this, you get why they, and their fascist predecessors, are trying to clamp down on education and information.
Until we can build a society that can see our power structures for what they are, and how they harm not just us but ALL of them too, we will never be free of this madness. Until then, I fear we will just keep being on the receiving end of the violent backlash of their cognitive dissonance.
We need a world where people aren’t shamed for being wrong, but rewarded for course-correcting. Encourage folks to confront their set beliefs and ideas, and respect knowledge and curiosity. Accept truth AND doubts, even if it’s uncomfortable at first; learn, grow. Reject obscurantism and certainty.
We need better education. People need to develop critical thought. Empathy needs to be treasured. We need a society where people are better equipped to question themselves, question superstitious beliefs and baseless claims. And care about their fellow human.
When people are told that their invisible sky daddy only spoke of two sexes and two genders - regardless of whether that interpretation is correct - you end up with populations who cannot accept anything else than what they’ve been told, and they’ll have a knee-jerk reaction to difference.
You can have transphobia outside of fascism too. Transphobia will exist in ANY framework of reality that tries to impose a rigid, unscientific view of gender and sex.

To all the people still waiting for the military to stand up to Trump, I beg all y’all to inform yourselves on how shit works. There are books, articles, and vids about it. Here’s just one:
Literally what do you expect any of them to do? The military will follow orders because the Supreme Court will deem Trump’s orders to be legal, therefore they have the obligation to obey them. Congress will do nothing because MAGA is in control of the majority. Only the people can save themselves.
Like, sure, they can refuse to follow orders, but will be replaced by those who will. They don’t get to interpret the constitution, the Supreme Court does. And the Supreme Court is at the service of Trump now. So the chances of them overturning his military orders are less-than-guaranteed.
Not how it works. The military have a duty to refuse an order that is illegal or unconstitutional. What is illegal or unconstitutional is not for the military to judge, but the legislative and legal branches. If a soldier refuses to follow an order that is judged by courts to be legal, they’re f’d.
This is not the darkest period in human history. Stop doomscrolling and see where you can help. Your country will not be saved from outside or top down. It’s the people who must save it. That means you too. Doomscrolling paralyzes your ability to resist.
Legal community is trying their best but they are creatures of rules fighting an opponent who doesn’t play by the rules. Corporate? They’re sucking up to make as much $$$ as possible. Military? Chain of command says to do what the Commander in Chief orders.
Their jobs are to manufacture consent and engineer perception.
The military is not gonna do go against its own commander in chief. You need to understand that.
You need to understand that there is no way for a party like the Dems to do anything under authoritarianism. They’re useless in this situation because their power depends on government following its own rules and laws. The US is past that.
Following the orders of the commander-in-chief. Did you expect a different outcome? They literally drill soldiers into following orders first and thinking second. The higher-ups? If they don’t follow orders, they get court-martialed and replaced with those who will follow orders.
The military depends on following orders. The commander-in-chief guves orders and sure, some may disagree, but they either follow the orders or are punished for going against the chain of command.
The institutions have been neutered. MAGA is the majority, and the Dems are not even confronting the fact that they are working in a system where the rules only matter when everyone plays by them. If the majority in power ignores the rules - there are no rules anymore.
Unthinkable how? There were books written about how this sort of scenario actually could happen. That US certainty of “it can’t happen here”, “we have checks and balances to prevent it”, etc. is what lulled it into the false sense of security that made it vulnerable.
It’s like people lack imagination. It was always “thinkable”.
