I played it again a few years ago. It is NOT any easier. Like, in one “age,” the different sounds indicate which direction to go, but you’d never know that unless you competed another, specific Age first. I eventually resorted to using text-based walkthroughs to finish Myst, like the good ole days.

HP Spaceball 2003 (1991). While the mouse operates on X and Y axes, the HP Spaceball also used the Z axis, making it easy to rotate objects in 3D space. Plus the white plastic made it look like something out of 2001: A Space Odyssey.

The Pocket Surfer 2 (2008, £179.99) offered 20 hrs/mo of free internet and unlimited access for £5.99/mo. The service pre-rendered every webpage on their servers as images first before sending them to the devices. It made the connection feel faster.

That would be so useful. The closest I got (in I think in Mac OS 9) was opening the Applications folder and dragging it to the bottom of the screen to make a Finder tab. I missed it when Mac OS X rolled out.
