I don't think the Lib Dems had turmoil. The SDP certainly did and split 3 ways with majority joining then Liberals. SDP interesting case as 20 defected from Labour (even Cons) but couldn't organise thereafter. Reform is a defectors party and may go same way. FPTP elections - very hard for new party.
