So far my position is that GenAI for fraud and GenAI for legit educational purposes do not overlap anywhere. I'm sure plenty of people will argue there is a grey area. They're welcome to make their case, but as a librarian I just find other things more worthwhile to spend time and energy on.

I guess we have to pay attention to it, but I think we all need to be very specific in stating why. What is one's concrete interest in GenAI? People who want to engage in fraud will do so, and GenAI gives them a tool that supports it while evading detection. Legit and ethical uses live elsewhere.

I stopped teaching last year because abuse of AI became pretty much uniform. It's not clear why I should spend a precious minute reading or grading something a student didn't write. The only way I could resume teaching now is by making all writing assignments in-class exercises.
