Born into a very conservative family. But I had it easy, I was straight. And a guy. Everything they wanted. Except I had these thoughts, ones I knew I couldn't talk about. They came up more and more frequently as I got older, until they burst out into me. Then I no longer belonged.
Kind of feels like being a replicant in Blade Runner. Where they look, feel, think and act like humans. What makes them any different from real humans? If I look, feel, act, live like any other woman, why am I not one? Do I not need safe spaces? The world doesn't make a lot of sense.
I have no idea what causes all of this. No idea how to manage and get through life this way. It's just kind of trial and error. I take the HRT, I become more and more woman on the outside. Just trying to live. Most people don't know I'm trans, and see me as valid. If they knew, they wouldn't.
I had no one to look up to because they all died in the AIDS crisis. Our generation had to start over. Piece together what our history was. How ancient our thoughts and feelings are. Gaslit into thinking we're a new ideology. Dehumanized daily by people who don't understand. Don't believe us.
So the best way to counter that sort of rhetoric is to flat out say that non-binary people exist. In the same way that men and women exist.
I think the issue cisgender people have with understanding non-binary is that they do fundamentally understand the concept of being a woman or a man, at least on paper. Whether they think trans men and trans women are valid, different story. Enbyphobes believe non-binary doesn't exist.

You're in the part of transition where things start to accelerate rapidly. Year two for me was way more significant than year one. Hell, year three has actually sped up even more, mostly because of SRS. I guess not making any testosterone helps the estrogen work better.

Nothing they did was backed by science, but because it was directly oppositional to CDC guidance, that meant the experts were wrong and the CDC should be punished. And here we are, exactly what's going on now.
There was absolutely nothing good faith about the messaging Republicans used in 2020. It was grossly irresponsible behavior posing as rugged libertarianism. It was deliberately contrarian, destroyed faith in public health and killed people.

The problem with "wedge issues" (like anything trans-related) is that they are designed to take advantage of the fact that most politicians know nothing about them and aren't interested enough to find out more. They pay lip service to it and then the bad actors dig deeper when given the green light.

I don't live in grief of my identity, but I absolutely would not have chosen any of this.
It's actually just the same voice I've used my whole life, even before transition. But I used to do a lot of voice mimicry as a kid, which probably helps.
