I love the notion that PhD level experts are easily tricked if questions get very specific. But also, his prompt doesn't sound too specific to me, nor do I see where it would have necessarily tricked a LLM into 'ignoring energy other than solar'. His request included longwave, which is not solar.

I had a 64 kWh BEV for a few years. After a normal commuting day I'd be ~25% and need 30+ hrs to fully charge. I notice these articles almost never acknowledge situations that aren't the ideal setup (e.g. ppl in condos and apts aren't likely to make use of V2L). Just preaching to the choir.
Parsons (@rocketparsons.bsky.social) reply parent
Also, a 70 kWh battery ( attempting to pick a roughly avg number) needs 50 hrs to go from 0-100% at 1.4 kW. I was not starting from 0.
Parsons (@rocketparsons.bsky.social) reply parent
to game it out, days before a major storm event you are likely driving around buying all the supplies you need, so yes, you are probably coming home with a low charge. if you live on L1, you generally aren't starting your day fully charged. I had a BEV for a few years. Speaking from experience.

Parsons (@rocketparsons.bsky.social) reply parent
As far as quantities to sustain/ allow for growth: it's a small market. It doesn't take much to sustain/grow. & it's variable by Manufacturer. The ones I know of don't have dedicated lines for FCEBs, so they just need enough orders to keep costs down and maintain a healthy backlog.
Parsons (@rocketparsons.bsky.social) reply parent
On the other hand, I think the dividing line has more to do with whether or not an order is part of a permanent strategic vision to have FCEBs as part of the fleet. Ordering a handful for a tech demo: not significant. Ordering 20 or 30 to handle certain routes BEBs can't do: that's significant.
Parsons (@rocketparsons.bsky.social) reply parent
I'd say any numerical demarcation is both subjective and arbitrary. What attribute does a 110 unit order have to make it significant that a 90 unit or 50 unit order doesn't? 100 feels big? Your line is just vibes based.
