Correct, the refractory linings collapse, and it's game over. The cost to rebuild virtually from scratch would be multi millions. I did some work there about 10 years ago on the last refurb.

I was there and didn't see her doing much supporting.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social tonight bizarrely, I walked past Liz the lettuce Truss at a stadium gig in Scunny. God knows what she was doing there but it made me wonder me as to what small talk one could make with her?

Suggest all migrant workers go on strike. Simple

@mrjamesob.bsky.social good luck this afternoon. Up the Iron!

Had thought about visiting the USA again, but now you must be joking.

It's not perfect, but Scunthorpe is the last one. They also have a wider product mix than PT, Rail, Sections, and Rods. Plus they supply Dalzell Plate Mill, Lackenby Beam Mill and Skinningrove Special Profiles Mill with slabs blooms and billets.
Gareth (@rustyiron61.bsky.social) reply parent
Agree with all you say, for info the Jingye plan for Scunthorpe was for 1 possibly 2 EAF Furnaces and shutting the BF's. This was the 2700 job losses leaving 800 or so for EAF and our Rolling Mills. Wider more important product range at Scunny, supplying Mills in Dalzell, Lackenby and Skinningrove.

Scunthorpe is the last one. The PT Tata deal was done by the Tories, ask them. Scunthorpe has a wider product range than PT. Rails, Sections, Rods. Plus it supplies Slabs, Blooms and Billets to DL plate mill, Lackenby Beam mill, and Skinningrove special profiles.
Gareth (@rustyiron61.bsky.social) reply parent
Maybe because Scunthorpe really is the last integrated Steelworks, and it has a wider product range than Port Talbot. It also supplies slab to DL and semis to Lackenby and Skinningrove.
Gareth (@rustyiron61.bsky.social) reply parent
Come on the Iron. We need something to lift the mood with the Steelworks bleak prospects.
Gareth (@rustyiron61.bsky.social) reply parent
Take that, a comfortable win, move on to the next one.

Hmm, not really. They sniff an opportunity to put Starmer in a difficult position.

Just back from a trip to Spain where we met several North Americans. Funnily 6 all said they were Canadians 🤔.

Paul Scully on Newsnight suggests Brexit was a 45/50 year project. Didn't see that on the side of a bus.

It's time, IMO, for political parties to receive public funding, so all donations from wealthy individuals, vested interest corporations, etc, can be banned once and for all.

Why is she being platformed like this?
