And yeah, the grief one-uppers like that suck. Generally I try to give a tiny degree of grace, thinking that they *might* be trying to empathize… badly. But that just response just sounds… obnoxious.

Its okay to acknowledge that people often get more conservative with age. Does everyone? Of course not! (Personally I’ve gotten more progressive as I’ve aged) But a lot do (my own generation included) as voting demographics show.

Are you seriously equating the two? Russia invaded Ukraine… in 2014 and again in 2022. Hamas did not invade Israel. If you want to compare Hamas’ actions to anything, it would be closer to 9/11. I think history has shown the US response to 9/11 was disproportionate, and made us no safer either.
