It was a project I started in the mid 2000s and it took like 15 years to find the time and materials to finally finish it. Probably $3k for both, if not more. If I had just bought a 70s Fender silverface back when I started and modified it the whole thing would have likely maxed out around $600.

right-wing movements often have a sort of needy, demanding "mom says you have to play with me" element to them – see the conflation of people not wanting you around with 'being silenced' – and the AI people definitely have it pretty bad

nothing drives them more mad than people being unimpressed, indifferent, or hostile towards their slop. it's not enough for them to have slop and smear slop everywhere, they expect thanks and praise for it (or engage in smug delusion about how their critics are seething, etc)

working in the arts means knowing so many people over the years whose talent is undeniable and awe-inspiring, and who spend most of their time working shitty day jobs and struggling to survive

I received my physical copy of "The Secret Rules of the Terminal" by @b0rk.jvns.ca yesterday. I've got—I'm pretty sure—the full set of zines on my shelf. They're probably the reference material I grab most often. Great information well described in a convenient format.

“The Secret Rules of the Terminal” by Julia Evans. The cover depicts three people doing magic in a stone building with arches. They each have accessories featuring imagery of keyboard keys, terminal prompt characters, and a palette of colors.
