I hate to admit I used to have this opinion. It took a while for me to realize that gov't isn't meant to turn a profit, it's meant to provide the services necessary for society to survive and thrive, regardless of cost.

One of the things I loved the most growing up where I did. We had Punjabi, Bengali, Nigerian, Jamaican, Chinese, Korean, Portuguese, Polish and Serbian families all on the same street as us, and all the homemade food that was just given out freely was incredible.
