Auto-lock in the garage I don’t mind, I just have to mentally remember the horn honk so I don’t get spooked. Other annoyance is it’s like 50/50 whether on exiting my garage that it’ll present the button to close it on the lower bar of the screen automatically.
Single oval it is for the Z Scale layout. Adding more terrain to the center so it’s not unnaturally flat now. 🗻 Added a porch light to the house that’s still gonna be used, because neglected to add lighting to it (do not recommend post-assembly, it was TRICKY!!!) and mocked up with trees! 🏠🌲

Track plan isn’t working out, but the mountain actually didn’t either, unintentionally created what I think is something more Sierra Nevada-ish looking! 🐶💭🏔️ It looks great, and after making some pines trees (wire, paint brush bristles and ground foam!) I think I may have a mountain scene instead!
With a long train you can still back cars down that spur to hook up and switch, but the locomotive would have to remain on the oval. So hmmm. Not sure if I want to keep it as is, it’d certainly be less work to remove the grain elevator (save it for another project) and replace with a house or two
think the saying is, the best laid plans of dogs and men? Being unfamiliar with Z Scale I didn’t really take note of the switch geometry, I just planned with track pieces from AnyRail and now that the pieces have arrived I can see and confirm with testing: way too tight a curve for a locomotive 🫠

the one direction short it’s bizarre! I spray painted both my T-Trak N Scale modules, after masking with tape and I didn’t have any issues. I did prep the top of the rail with a WD-40 applied with a foam brush to prevent adhesion and then ran a wood block over the top to remove paint after though
Thank you! Mountain was made of foam board, which was then covered in Sculptamold, with some plaster casts of rocks to add a bit more geological detail, then stained/washed with some layers of water-based paint
Got plenty of N and HO Scale ones, so don’t want to collect too many Z trains, but wanted a least one passenger train to run on my mini-layout and if I had to chose just one, I think it has to be an ICE Amtrak 🐶❤️🚅 (AZL makes a Amtrak California set but it’s $$$ compared to this old Marklin set)

I’m a controls engineer by trade so I really enjoy that sort of thing (well, less software, but JMRI exists and makes it easy) I had an HO layout on my living room floor for a bit that was 4 blocks, using isolated track segments and current detection and it was a blast to set up and fiddle with
that is a TON of signal heads I'd need to make myself (using parts from Showcase Miniatures, as Atlas doesn't make those style of signal heads in N Scale), but oh man, there'd be sooooo many blocks to control and logic to set up and using DCC I could automate trains 🐶💭
To visualize: 2 x T-Trak end caps for curved tracks (blocks 2+5) 2 x custom T-Trak straight modules, one a single block (Block 1, with passenger platform), another has two blocks, one of which contains crossovers Dual signal heads for speed signaling, triple signal heads for route signaling
I've still got two N Scale T-Trak end cap modules, which each could be a single block (probably could fit at least a Caltrain consist), but I wouldn't want to do a T-Trak quad (48") in between them for 2 more blocks, as it's really short. Maybe make two reeeeally long (60") modules? 🐶💭
Enjoying working on my lil' Z Scale layout, but I occasionally glance over at all my N Scale stuff (trains/Kato track) and my JMRI RaspberryPi + block detectors from fooling with signals awhile back and really itching to figure out a way to get back into doing automatic block signaling 😩🚦

Fixed my goofs on the Z Scale layout and was able to make some progress! Mountain is mostly painted up and also used some random brown latex paint to cover up the foam of the base (it’ll be covered with ground foam and ballast)
Definitely have to check those spots that Mama can’t bend over and reach~ 😮💨

Wanted to work on the Z Scale layout but instead need to kill the growth of mold that’s formed on the terrain (should’ve dried it out in the sun/somewhere less humid 😓) and glue the foamboard to another layer of foamboard (or wood) as it’s gotten warped. 😑 Ah well. Little layout, little mistakes!

The insta-torque is great! It’s not expectedly heavier than the S600 given the battery, but far quicker off the line! I’d say it cruises as well and handles better - the S-Class isn’t particularly nimble. It’s like a Boeing 747 than a fighter jet: point it in a direction and give it full thrust 🤭

Really liking the interior on this Cadillac Optiq, the huge screen doesn’t look like a bolted on tablet and everything that should be a button, is. (I don’t like the flat, seamless steering wheel buttons, but they at least have raised nubbins to feel them out)

While I was getting into an EV, someone else was taking delivery of a CT5-V Blackwing “Le Monstre” edition, 1 of 101 made by Cadillac - it definitely sounded monstrous on start up!
That's fair and understandable, I really didn't want to part with my S600, but it's getting to the age that the Active Body Control components (pump, dampener, valve blocks) would be up for failure/replacement and that's $$$$$ in repairs I didn't want to stomach 😱💸
I looked at Lyriqs as well and personally didn't need the additional size, though the lack of power steering column with memory in the Optiq was a sacrifice to make that I wasn't super excited about, but ultimately couldn't justify the price difference for that feature.
