Very cool! Howard the Duck is one of the 1st comic book series that I got hooked on & had to find & complete. Currently, one of my holy grails is this comic with a very early cover work by Gene Colan. from Dec of 1952. I don't think you have to be a war comics fan to appreciate the beautiful detail
J.M. DeMatteis (@jmdematteis.bsky.social) reposted
I was lucky enough to work with Gene Colan when I was first starting at Marvel. We did a couple of black and white Hulk stories (inked by Alfredo Alcala and Dave Simons) that were wonders to behold.

If you Google The voice Australia boy George, there's a pretty cool video of a young 20 something year old woman performing one of his songs so differently that he didn't even recognize it until the second verse. Never been a fan, but Worth the 10 minutes to check it out.

In my experience, baseball is still an affordable sport in most stadiums. I remember I used to go to see the Washington Capitals regularly; a lower level seat was $65. Then they signed Jaromir Jagr & the same seat was $90. Cheered against this guy for a decade then he raised my seat cost 35-40%

Name something that is significantly overvalued. And go!
Tommy (@sittinglynx.bsky.social) reply parent
IMO, Pro sports as entertainment. Outside of athletes as role models which isn't always achieved (sportsmanship during competition, model citizen, etc), pro leagues bring little of value to society. The last time I wanted to go to a football game, one lower level seat was $400 completely ridiculous

I took my family to Lancaster PA for a weekend this summer & the owner of a local antique shop there had an amazing 12" GI Joe collection for sale. It was like being in a museum. He had some planet of the apes stuff too that had me wanting them LoL

I was into this series as a teen. I think I dropped it off my pull list after issue 12. With the recent pick up from you I think I only need one or two issues. I need to dig out my pull list issues & check. It'd be a cool re-read

It was the best! It totally felt like we were sailing a wooden frigate out of the harbor & there might have been 35 people on board, including an original veteran of the ship in a wheelchair. His story was he fudged his age to join the service.
Tommy (@sittinglynx.bsky.social) reply parent
I had to have this book because my wife managed a restaurant where it's docked & one of our dates before we married was to attend "the turn about".Basically periodically they tugboat the ship to the mouth of the harbor & turn it around. It's so tall, you can't see the tugboats. Beautiful experience
