There is the 40% of the population that didn't vote, whether due to lack of conviction or by being disenfranchised. How to get them to care enough to make the effort to register and vote is the big puzzle. Hopefully, you can reach some of them.

Trump, by himself is powerless. But he has been put into power by American voters who obviously thought that he was/is the leader they want to have. Combined with the multi-decade efforts by the Republicans and their funders/supporters, you have a complete rethinking of what makes "America great".

There are no perfect leaders. Of the ones that are (or could be) available to us (Canadians), he's the closest we have to someone who knows how things work, and has enough backing to give Canada a fighting chance at resisting the Trump economic war.

I don't believe I am. The first challenge for Carney is to get elected, with enough of a mandate to be able to use the demonstrated support to be able to negotiate effectively, both internally and externally.
Perfect is the enemy of good. Yes, it's fine to expect more, but we're in an economic war of aggression started by the Trump regime. Focusing on that threat, and figuring out how to make the Canadian economy resilient enough to withstand this attack, is Job 1.

Agreed. Words are easy, but actions are the measure. First order of business for Carney will be a cabinet shuffle. We'll see how he intends to align his support staff to address both the Trump tariffs and the election.
The conservatives are pushing for an election asap because they see their "insurmountable" lead shrink with every mention of Carney, and now that Carney has been elected leader of the Liberals, he'll be much more visible to the electorate, and he compares well against PP.
Carney has a good mandate from the Liberals. Next, if he wins a majority in Parliament, THEN we can say he has a strong mandate.
