Post-OKC, the government did a really good job of making it difficult to mix/cook effective high explosives. If you can find a recipe to make an explosive & you can get all of the stuff to do it, odds are that 1. it’s really dangerous to for you to proceed &/or 2. the end result probably sucks.

There’s a general trade off with explosives—sensitive explosives are not powerful, powerful explosives are not sensitive.* The way around this is an explosive chain that builds in power. For the safety of troops, fuzes USUALLY break that chain until they’re fully armed. *some exceptions apply
