I’m 100% in favor of single payer, but I disagree that there’s no reason for private health insurance to exist. Given the current absence of single payer, it seems obvious that private health insurance exists to allow people to avoid huge bills (or bankruptcy) in the event of a major health event.

It’s weird and sad that Iowa republicans prefer an autocratic government to a democratic one. They should all take a civics refresher course and bone up on how to be a real patriotic American.
