1. If companies were to pay for the tariffs then their profits and stock values will fall. 2. If tariffs are passed on consumers will pay for them and the cost of living goes up along with inflation. If it’s 2. consumers tighten spending then eventually the profits and markets are impacted.

I read an article last year by Adam Tooze and he is someone not prone to gossip. Israel will clear the Gaza, a US/Middle East alliance will manage the area and an oil terminal will be built on the Mediterranean for oil from Saudi and the Gulf states. The first two parts look certain.
