The 4 years I spent in Alaska (where FedEx and UPS *hate* to ship) gave me a profound respect for the USPS. When the politicians let it be, it's a well-oiled machine that does a mind-boggling amount of work every day. (Except most Sundays, ofc.)

I have to imagine that the impression they got was from the lack-of-algorithm (complimentary!) and that they only followed a few stodgy, pro-DNC accounts.

yes. tasting fabrics is one of the easiest ways to test fiber composition. natural fabrics, such as wool, cotton, and linen, breakdown in the digestive tract. synthetics such as polyester will not. so to test fiber composition, eat the garment. if fibers appear in your poop, it was synthetic.

Current tech is basically the concept of an airfoil. It'll have to be part of something *much* bigger and complex to actually succeed.

Aha! I missed that you were agreeing with me. 😆 I'm not sure how that could've been clearer, except maybe putting a "Yeah," in front of it and/or putting "AI" in scare quotes.
Jake Achée (@superobscure.com) reply parent
Nah... those are both **marketed** as AI. Ignore the marketing.
Jake Achée (@superobscure.com) reply parent
Nah, that's what LLMs are. LLMs aren't AI. They're just marketed as that.
Jake Achée (@superobscure.com) reply parent
Actual AI will do more than just glorified auto-completed sycophancy, though. 😛

You’re right, but also this isn’t AI. It’s just algorithmic guessing.

If it were as much greed as you’re espousing, the ratio of prices would be much farther apart, relatively, compared to incomes.
Jake Achée (@superobscure.com) reply parent
Here’s why I asked: the income numbers and the retail prices are **both** higher (in relatively similar ratios) which means even if the new game was the same amount of labor (it’s more) the costs will be higher, and the margins will be similar. It’s literally *just* effects of inflation all around.

My favorite is the little function to have my iPhone make a noise because I've left it somewhere. It's also handy for quick weather checks, and smart-home things. And I've got a curated set of alerts that go to it to extend my phone. Otherwise, it's mostly an input device that tracks activity/sleep.
