I disagree as well with NACIs recommendation of one shot per year for over 65. This just encourages infection and possibly more disability in this age group. It is cheaper to prevent infections by vaccination than treat a patient in hospital or PCS by far.

My thoughts are with the parents and the anguish they are feeling now. I also think of the ER staff and the moral injury they suffer daily due to chronic inadequate staffing and lack of beds. It is likely only going to get worse. An inquest would be helpful to find out what happened.💔

One of the reasons I am adamant that people should not avoid regular dental appointments because of the risk of Covid infection is because a close friend of mine died of oral cancer in 2009, aged 39. Absolutely outstanding article on the link between EBV infection and long-term health problems. The concept of infection with a pathogen causing not only acute illness but also being a risk factor for chronic illness in the future is not controversial. This is why I avoid SARS-CoV-2.

See this? It's called a non-inferiority trial. It compares the new vaccine with the current vaccines to see if the new vaccine does better. This new vaccine did. Placebo-controlled trials are not needed to test most new vaccines. Demanding them will only reduce vaccine access. Which is the point.
