Violence is super effective. There is one more way though - focused crowd pressure (think: SHAC7 style campaigns). One target, thousand unpredictable people. #FreeLuigi

Also I would like to recommend 'The Failure of Nonviolence' by Peter Gelderloos. I am a Buddhist and a vehement believer in nonviolence and the book convinced me that there is something very wrong with how the term is used and who actually benefits from it.
But I would be naive and disrespectful if I said that every struggle can be won without resorting to violence. See history of MEND and Shell in Nigeria for instance, or think of Malcolm X or Bhagat Singh.
Luckily most of our problems can be solved without hurting people. Merely using our numbers to pressure is enough (see SHAC7 for instance and imagine them as a crowd of a thousand). The thing is just to concentrate on one single target, that's it.
Partially agreed. Violence can be the only way, especially in the face of overwhelming oppression. But at the same time for most corporations paralysing their communication or halting shipments is more devastating than shooting the CEO. Unpredictable focused crowd can be as threatening as a shooter.
