Early childhood educator. During the pandemic I continued to work with my kiddos. One 5 year old little boy looked at me one day and said "Tam, I don't know how you do it" when I said "do what" his reply was " make everyone smile".

When you work in child care and try to do extra cleaning during nap time and nature says take a break.
When you are on your early morning walk and the sidewalk wants to send you a message.
This song always pops into my head any time I read something new Governor Newsom has put out.
I listen to country music but whenever I read something like this a different tune pops into my head.
Watching the sunset never gets old.

After a day of reading about what is happening oit there, I was putting clothes away when a cardinal brought my attention to my window. Not to get a photo of him, but to experience this sunset.
When trying to keep up with what is happening has my emotional level off balance, listening to the northern cardinal helps.
Psychology was my 2nd major in college so I used to watch the Celebrity Apprentice just to see how the celebrities interacted with each other. I was never able to listen Sr, Jr, or Erik so I would mute them. I'm glad I have trusted resources!
I think there are times when it is necessary to lose those sixty seconds.

When you work in a child care program, you never know where your next learning opportunity will come from. A 9 year old put a few grain of sea salt in her water and immediately noticed the bubbles. Now my job will be to explain to children younger than 9 why.

Taking a walk helps to clear my head. Taking a walk after a good rain is even better.

My thoughts are; for the primary Vermont chose Nikki Haley. I often hear people say VT is a deep blue state, yet we keep electing a Republican governor. If you search most popular governors you will find Phil Scott is the most popular governor for the 12th quarter with a 72% approval rating.
I live in Vermont and I am thinking this would be a reason.
In March of 2024, while my husband was in the hospital for a heart attack, my watch did an update. I noticed silly faces that always made me smile so I left them. Recently my almost 2 yo granddaughter was playing with my watch and sent me this. Made me laugh. Maybe you will too.

Unfortunately, so many people still do not understand the timeline. I feel the consequences of the bill will be blamed on the wrong group unless the correct information is spread more widely prior to the midterms.

I've worked in early childhood education for 30 years. When kiddos ask about anything they fully expect me to beable to answer so even thoughI haven't taken a college class in 30 years, I have done enough reading and research to feel like I have.

I often hear @hcrichardson.bsky.social talk about finding joy and sharing it. Taking a walk while on vacation and I come across this family who allowed me to watch for a few moments.
Sometimes it's the birds and sometimes it's the sky that encourage me to keep my head up.
I don't have chickens, but I do have other birds that like to always announce their presence. Especially the cardinals.
Something I always think about when facing adversity. Do I let it change me or do I try to change my surroundings.

It used to be that cardinals would visit occasionally. Now it is everyday, usually multiple times a day. Definitely helpful after reading about what's going on out there.
When my boys were growing up I would always tell them you can't control what other people do, only your reaction to it.

As I was watching I was thinking of two things; this message on my perpetual calendar and as a mother and someone who has worked in a child care program for 30 years, your message about children and families is spot on.
The cardinals and now apparently bluejays making sure I keep my head up.

I was sitting at my computer desk after reading multiple stories here on bluesky when I heard a noise at my window. I looked over to see this female cardinal.

So that means anyone working with our most vulnerable populations, sick, elderly, young children will not have an opportunity to receive a booster unless they are over 65?!

My dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer on July 12th, 2011. He was gone August 4th, 2011. I 🙏for strength for him and his family for their road ahead.

As an early childhood educator, I have to be fully present when my kiddos arrive so I don't watch the news. I am selective on who I follow both on social media and substack. Because I don't have time to do a lot of research, I greatly appreciate those who do.
