Ron DeSantis’s birthday is September 14th. Send him a rainbow to make his day special.

Cut all funding for metal detectors at the Supreme Court. Why should they be any better protected from those exercising their 2A rights than the rest of us?
TedCFree (@tedcfree.bsky.social) reply parent
Only reason to cut him a break on this is that it was a 6-3 vote. We don’t know what he really thought. But if he been in the minority Clarence Thomas as the most senior Associate Justice would have decided who should write the majority decision and it would have probably have been much worse.

There is something like that in NY too. First degree is reserved for murders of police officers and other law enforcement. People who don’t know get outraged when heinous crimes are charged as second degree.

Give her a chance. It might be procedural. Generally courts are not supposed to issue an injunction or stay if things can be fixed later with money. It might be what she is thinking.

About the cut from the SSA website: www.ssa.gov/people/mater...
TedCFree (@tedcfree.bsky.social) reply parent
The promise not to “touch” is a clever promise to let it fail. SS will be unable to meet its obligations in 8-10 years if it isn’t “touched”. Seniors will experience an automatic 17% cut. Senator John Curtis (R. Utah) admitted this on Meet The Press on Sunday. www.nbcnews.com/politics/con...

She should not be saying this without convincing proof. It is damaging to our democracy to cast doubt on every single election. It will make voters think there is no point voting. Persistent unfounded allegations will also make it harder to get anyone to listen if an election is ever truly compromised

I think at this point they are just filling the gaping hole in Democratic leadership. But it is great question. Who would you choose from the Democratic leadership to run in 2028.
TedCFree (@tedcfree.bsky.social)
@maddow.msnbc.com Please do a story on Social Security & the promise not to “touch” it. People think it means they will get their benefits. But SS will fall short of its commitments in 8-10 years if it isn’t “touched. People need to ask their reps how this will be fixed if SS is not “touched.”
