I think a lot of people had a folk belief in the GRC as a transexual licencing system, and believed that something was genuinely being changed in regards to access to spaces. It's never thought through as a practical issue re trans people's actual reality.
Imo this is adequately managed by hormone requirements in elite sport, the remaining advantage is basically just average height, which is considered a fair advantage in every other circumstance.
I think our concepts of fairness in sport are very complicated. What is considered fair Vs unfair advantage is very subjective, and some people's reflexive responses are incoherent when looked at closely. Eg. Feeling that a 6" trans woman has an unfair advantage but a 6" cis woman has a fair one.

This isolated framing is imo an intentional choice by cass/segm to make the evidence base look worse. The standards for extending a successful treatment in adults with well understood interventions (physically speaking) to children SHOULD be lower than for an entirely new treatment.
Changing physical characteristics to align with gender has a comparatively strong evidence base for adults, and strikingly high satisfaction rates. Blockers are just a slightly different (and more effective, in terms of appearance) mechanism of achieving the same thing in children.
What feels very odd is considering the evidence base for under 18s in complete isolation from the significantly more robust evidence base for treatment in adults. Yes there may be slight differences for adolescents, in both diagnosis and specifics of treatment, but it's the same basic treatment.

I'm incredibly lucky to live somewhere with a regular transmasc centric sauna event, which has distinct (chattier) social norms from the cis centric (trans inclusive) events in the same space. Event tends to be about 50/50 cis/trans.
My experience has been that cis gays are generally trans accepting enough that it's very easy to socially integrate, and this has contributed to me being more gay socialised in general
