A wild ride for me today. Wordle 1,535 3/6 🟨🟨⬛🟨🟨 - Stunned a bit 🟨🟨🟨🟨⬛ - Not this pattern 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 - But, this one does the trick How'd you Wordle today. #Wordle #WordleSky
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social)
Had a choice of three at the end. Guessed wrong at tier four, but right at tier five! Wordle 1,534 4/6 ⬛🟨⬛🟩🟨 🟨⬛🟨🟩⬛ ⬛🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 How'd you Wordle today? #Wordle #WordleSky

It doesn't hurt to change. When it matches up to the solution we'll, you're a genius. When it doesn't, you're an idiot and shoulda used the old one. In that sense it is a game of chance.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
I have a love-hate relationship with those words that are one letter off, especially that middle letter.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
You don't want to use up all your luck in one week. I've done that before and had a long string of nothing shorter than a four, frequent fives, and the occasional six.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
One of my favorite secondary games is trying to guess the guesses of those posting on #WordleSky. But, it sure looks like we do... at least we begin with the same letter.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
It's the luck of the draw. I used to use "adieu" because of all the vowels until I realized that O was much more frequently used than either I or U. And that I could use some of the most frequently used consonants instead. But, it just depends on what matches to the word that day.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
I'm pretty proud of that one. Mostly because of Ma Belle Femme's goading, though.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social)
Ma Belle Femme is always bragging about how great her starter word is and why don't I use it. Then, this morning, she's on about how well her starter did and her second word and having gotten it in three. The heat was on! And, I delivered the goods. Wordle 1,531 3/6 🟩🟨⬛⬛⬛ 🟩🟩🟨⬛🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
I couldn't play the game if I didn't use the same starter word everyday. It just doesn't make sense to.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Sorry to hear that. It is always hard to watch those winning streaks go, but they all must end sometime.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Being able to think of the possible words is the single hardest part of solving the puzzle. The earlier in the puzzle, the harder it is.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Money is a means to an end. Knock on something resembling wood, you will have sufficient means to reach your end.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
You've got to use an elimination word in that situation. I could think of three or four words that used that four-letter pattern. I chose the "most" likely word, meaning a commonly used word that didn't use any letter twice. Otherwise, it would've been an elimination word.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social)
Wordle 1,530 3/6 ⬛🟨🟨⬛🟨 - Starter pays off 🟩🟩⬛🟩🟩 - 2nd REALLY pays 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 - Most likely word That most likely word from all the possibilities (three? four? Never sure I've got them all) really seems to serve... until it doesn't. How'd you Wordle today? #Wordle #WordleSky
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
To my mind that's the only way to play it. Good job.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
A beautiful meandering Wordle. All those greens and not a solve among them! Amazing.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Thanks for sharing. It brought a smile to my face and put a spring in my step.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Getting a two is always a thrill. And, those secondary starter words -- the word you use when your usual starter comes up black -- can pay off handsomely. That's great. I think I've had two twos in the thousand or so Wordles I've done.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Great result, BTW. Very inspired.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Unless you've hit x/6, you've been winning these last few days. Today's Wordle was all over the place. You did good.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh, thank goodness. I'm reminded of the kids with the $50.00 per glass lemonade stand. One complains that they aren't going to sell very many glasses of lemonade. The other replies that you only need one. And, that's all you need when you're selling your house, provided they meet your asking price.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social)
Thinking about the "most likely" word from those remaining seems to be paying off. Wordle 1,529 4/6 ⬛⬛⬛🟨🟨 - Starter yields results ⬛🟨🟨⬛🟨 - Another letter 🟩⬛🟨🟨⬛ - A pattern found 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 - The most likely word of all that I could think of. How'd you Wordle? #Wordle #WordleSky
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
You gotta start using elimination words to avoid situations like that. I made it to be seven, possibly more words using that pattern. Once you get the pattern, use a tier to eliminate as many possible letters as you can. I've had puzzles where I've needed TWO elimination words to get there.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
One of my favorite techniques is the elimination word. I'm a cautious player and would rather use a tier to help narrow down the possibilities in a situation like that. I also find that using the "most likely" word seems to help, provided you have a "complete" list of choices.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
YES IT DID. The more quickly you can get a bead on the vowels, the more quickly you can solve it.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Congratulations! Threes are the perfect balance of luck and skill
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Sometimes it helps to let it percolate a bit, doesn't it?
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social)
Wordle 1,528 4/6 ⬛🟨⬛⬛⬛ - Hunh. Weird. 🟨🟨⬛⬛⬛ - Slow build, wrong ⬛🟨🟨⬛🟨 - Another pattern eliminated and letter added 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 - A winning pattern and letters! How'd you do on the Wordle today? #Wordle #WordleSky
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social)
LUCK has returned. The starter pays off handsomely, then chasing the most frequently used letters does. Wordle 1,527 2/6 🟩⬛🟩⬛🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 How'd you Wordle today? #Wordle #WordleSky
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Until you hit that second letter, you couldn't really get it. With the second and last letter and two yellows, you really couldn't miss. The length of the solve depended on how quickly you got to that point.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social)
I've seen several responses to my Wordle puzzle 1525 post that just don't seem possible. There just aren't enough words with the green letters in their guesses. If you know the solution, you'll know what I mean. Are their Wordle trolls? Do they deliberately produce fantastical impossible puzzles?
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Whoa! Slow and steady wins the race!
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Love those tiers like you got in two. Not as much as I love the tiers like your tier three, mind you, but your tier twos are good tiers.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
I've been keeping track -- not anything official or anything -- and it is generally a wash. Maybe a little on the gut side
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Story of my Wordling -- okay entire -- life.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
I KNOW my first two, maybe three, tier words aren't likely to be it, but I KNOW they are it, knowhatimean? I hit upon the solution on tier two, and though, "There are more likely words." Could be on my tombstone.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social)
I HATE it when you consider a word, but don't use it, and THAT word is the solution. Hate it. Wordle 1,526 4/6 ⬛⬛🟨⬛⬛ ⬛🟨🟨🟩⬛ ⬛🟨⬛🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 How'd you do on the Wordle today? #Wordle #WordleSky
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social)
This week seems to have been lessons in where the letters couldn't go and using what letters were left. Wordle 1,525 4/6 ⬛🟨⬛🟨⬛ 🟨🟨🟨⬛⬛ ⬛🟩🟨🟩🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 How'd Wordling go for you today? #Wordle #WordleSky
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Yeah, I KNOW right
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Once you eliminated the possible, you know what it has to be no matter how improbable
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
I've been sneezed on by one in NZ. Very memorable event
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
When you don't see what hindsight made plainly obvious. It was one of the funner words in the course of the game, though.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Oh sibling! Another tier and you'd've had it. Heart breaking. How'd you do on 1524?
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
But you stuck with it and got it in the end. If you weren't lucky with the letters in the first couple of tiers, you were destined for six.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Good job you! That's a fantastic solve!
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
But, Wordle has a way of humbling you
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
But you got there in the end. A strangely fun word.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
It was either going to be done in four or six today depending on what you eliminated in the first tiers.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
I think I know the city tier three is in
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes it is. If you get lucky in the first couple of tiers, it isn't too bad. But, if you're unlucky...
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
The eliminated letters narrowed the possibilities quite a bit.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
There are only so many words that use those middle three, and most of them share the same last letters. Once those are gone, there's not much left.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
We've got a lot of Wordle siblings today.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Yes it was. There have been some head scratchers this week
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
I imagine a lot of puzzles followed the same route that ours did. Between where letters couldn't go and couldn't be, you had a good idea of what it had to be
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
It sure did. What a handsome solve.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
It's one of my biggest frustrations, not being able to discuss the Wordle more openly. Probably a sub-reddit for that, though
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
I see. When you can't think of a letter to go into a space, you use X instead. Very clever that. You get to see your letters where you imagine they go. I think I'll try it. I often resort to pen and paper for my musings.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Thank you for posting you puzzle. I'm always curious about other people's processes in solving the puzzles. However, there is a bit of a social norm about not posting spoilers without some kind of warning. Mastadon let you give a cover and warning. I liked that feature. Good solve & use of info.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social)
Another where the using the eliminated letters and positions for the yellows leads to the solution. Wordle 1,524 4/6 ⬛🟨🟨⬛🟨 🟨🟨⬛🟨⬛ ⬛🟨⬛🟩🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 - There was only one place for each of the remaining yellows. How'd you Wordle today? #Wordle #WordleSky
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
But you also used the information you were getting with each tier. Eventually, you got to the same middle three letters that I did. After everything that was eliminated, it made for very few choices.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Well, that's the other problem. How do you know that you've thought of ALL of the possible words. Wordle has used some fairly obscure words in the past. Just with the center three and the eliminated letters, I, literally, couldn't think of a word to fit... until I did.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
You used your information really well. I LOVE the elimination word -- unless it was a mistake and you "forgot" to use your yellow -- on the second tier. Great strategy. Then, building on what you had until you got it. GREAT puzzle. One I'd be proud of if it were mine.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
I think four is about as good as anyone could get with this word.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Once you get to that point. Eliminating the eight most common letters (one presumes) and zeroing in on a pattern. But, the qualities of the word made it unlikely for me -- anyway -- to try it without having tried more likely words first.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Without getting super lucky, I don't see anyone getting it under four. I'd be curious about everyone's letter and pattern elimination process. I got the center three and felt like I had no where to go. No word came to mind. What could the first and last letter be?
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
I've hated other words more than I hate this one. In fact, I kinda liked it. It was just hard to think of.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
There've been odd words, seldom used words, words that use the least common letters, but this one takes the cake.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
It got bona fide air time. I'm sure it did. I had the center three and had eliminated the most likely word with those three. It took me forever to think of the solution. Then, it was, could it be? Nah, no way. Maybe. Should I try it? What else is there? I dunno.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
It was fun to see those greens turning over.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
There are words and then there are words. Most of it is luck of the draw.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
It's so much fun to see those greens pop up! The earlier in the puzzle, the more fun.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
I've lived a blessed life.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Sometimes it is where the letters can't go or what the spaces can't be that tells you the most.

Darn good outcome. Inspired.

My favorite secondary Wordle game: guess the guesses on Bluesky! It just goes to show that similar circumstances and goals produce similar results.

Four is average for a reason. It's a good score.

Having just been on the flip side of that coin, I wish you luck. Buying and selling houses is trying at the best of times.

Oh my goodness, don't get me started! Selling our furniture and other items that people might conceivably want was a long torturous process. Paring our stuff down to 2 32 kg (?) suitcases seemed impossible. The only "easy" part was the 24 hours of travel to Toronto. Now, settling in, is interminable
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Wordle just keeps on giving. What a great way to interact with your son.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
There were a lot of possibilities to eliminate. I'm glad you got to the right word in time.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
Your starting word really determines a lot about how your puzzle will go. There's so much randomness in solving the puzzle it makes sense to go along with it.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
There were a lot of possibilities to eliminate. I'm glad you made it by the end.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
But five is GREAT because it's a win! The sooner you get the word, the more luck is involved.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
That's the name of the game. It's either winning that way or winning through luck.
The Psy of Life (@thepsyoflife.bsky.social) reply parent
That's a solid solve, though. It seems like the 1520 puzzle is word most people would be tempted to guess once their letters start pointing them in that direction.
