“Evil is not able to create anything new, it can only distort and destroy what has been invented or made by the forces of good.” ― J.R.R. Tolkien That says well what we fight when we fight tyranny in this age. They are those who can only raise themselves by bringing others down.

the news was a bit more delayed and remote those days. I can barely remember the legacy of the Three Popes in One Year, on these things, From in 1978 when the Pope they chose only reigned 33 days. A thing fiction authors have used for great inspiration and stuff since.

true, in PR bible, any publicity is good publicity these days. So as you say maybe less than a week, enough to keep the audience with the 'tense wait' but not too much they get bored. Atm the 24/7 live feed is just a few very watched seagulls and a chimney. Which is 'amusing live' coverage.

So that is why reportage of the historical inspiration of Andor needs to careful. "A young man from nowhere with a revolutionary ideology, and a fight against a huge empire." Sounds like the description of a hero not Stalin. He was no mere bank robber, a terrorist we would call his carnage then.
TitchAshen (@titchashen.bsky.social) reply parent
Never said it was and dont think it is. History is a great source of inspiration for writers. And using it is not endorsing it. Stalin is not only a historical monster or whatever u wish to call him, he is also a mythic figure part of Putins power base. The great mythmaker of our age.

My comment was the risk of romanticisation of stalin. Why connect the two different issues? I do know Hollywood uses many things to shape history i studied mass media and propaganda at Uni. So why do i need a lecture about the founding fathers now? One of the text books from the old Uni Days.
TitchAshen (@titchashen.bsky.social) reply parent
The "patriot" was close to that. But not Sci Fi. Stalin was one man, and a man Putin disguises as someone he was not. So extreme caution over any cultural references to him is advised. Putin is a manipulator not a general.
TitchAshen (@titchashen.bsky.social) reply parent
So why is that your sense. I can talk about Stalin's sins and that has nothing to do with the founding fathers. Why do people always involve topics irrelevant to the post? Btw im not American either. So is see not reason behind your post.
