Anyone who is currently promoting Gavin Newsom as a candidate for President, is either a damned fool or hates trans and homeless people. Come back in three years and talk about voting for the lesser evil. Right now, you're just trying to create the difficult situation that you pretend to deplore.
Toby Bartels (@tobybartels.bsky.social) reply parent
What the hell are you Newsom people even talking about? Trash the country??? Fuck off!
Toby Bartels (@tobybartels.bsky.social) reply parent
I'll be more specific: The next time anybody has the opportunity to vote for Newsom, it will be in a 2028 primary, and he will almost certainly *not* be the least evil candidate there. Referring now to his future opponents as enemies of democracy is a straight-up 100% bald-faced transphobic lie.
Toby Bartels (@tobybartels.bsky.social) reply parent
I want to know what the fuck these people are trying to do here. If Newsom is nominated for President in 2028, *then* I might have to consider who his opponent is and whether he's the lesser evil. Until then, all of this garbage is just not true.
Toby Bartels (@tobybartels.bsky.social) reply parent
I guess fascism alone won't explain it, because not all fascists are alike in all respects, but this is a rational project with an ideological basis. They *want* to kill us. They want to kill the weak and unfit. Vaccines are dangerous because they muddle the distinction between strong and weak.

From what I understand the laws that now have some states requiring covid prescriptions were written in good faith when we had a functioning govt to prevent people getting vaccines not approved by the CDC and ACIP (Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices). They will have to be changed now 1/

Toby Bartels (@tobybartels.bsky.social) reply parent
It's not just that we paid for it or that most of us are eligible anyway. The CDC, in saying that those who don't have these conditions do not need the vaccine, lied first! As for RFKJ, the instigator of this lie, he is trying to kill us. You have the right to lie to a murderer.

They are archetypes, but their portrayal is based on real people, they're named after those people, and almost every plot point in the play is something that really happened (at least to Hamilton if not the others). So I think Philby is right that the play gives Alexander Hamilton a new afterlife.

A big theme of Hamilton is legacy and who tells history. And it's become unintentionally (?) metatextual because this musical is now his most well-known legacy (he used to be the guy on the $10 bill, now he's the guy in the musical of that name), and it's Chernow and Miranda who tell his story.
