Starting today, 2.4M Americans, including kids, lose SNAP food benefits. Stores like Freshly’s Market in Mississippi that serve low-income communities expect a 35–45% drop in sales. Children will go hungry & employees at Freshly's lose jobs. Welcome to trickle-down starvation.

It says something like that.Police were there responding to a stopped vehicle when they saw an accident on the other side. PRESUMABLY, the driver of G's vehicle had slowed down or stopped in response to the stopped vehicle on the other side and they got rear ended. I don't believe G helped anyone.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
His driver stopped his car in the median of the NB lane and there was another car in the median of the SB lane that had the DV victim in it. His driver reentered the highway traffic at low speed and got rear ended.

Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent

Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
Both vehicles were pulled over on the median of the highway.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
Presumably the southbound car was pulled over on the side of the road by the median and flagged down the car driven by G's driver, who also pulled into the center median. G's vehicle then tried to get back on the highway and was struck by a fast moving vehicle.

Yes. They narrowed the scope to former smoker or those physically inactive. At Walgreens you check one of those two boxes and in less than ten minutes you get your vaccine shot.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
Go nope your fucking self. You're dumb. This is my lived existence. My insurance has always paid for preventative care. There were cheap insurance plans that didn't and had caps on coverage, etc. but MY insurance was always great. It is top notch. Sorry you didn't have the same experience.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
I've guess I have better insurance than you. I've never had a claim denied or underpaid. And I have received preventative care from health insurance for the last fifty years. Been hospitalized five times. I've had two surgeries on right arm. Surgery on left hand/wrist and umbilical hernia.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
Not true. If you are put on cholesterol meds Medicare will pay for additional blood tests for maintenance. The doctor needs to know if the medication is working. Screening is for healthy people once every five years.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
By stupidity, I meant your comment. No pharmacist will require proof of inactivity. You will tell them you are inactive by checking a box on a form. Or that you're obese or a former or current smoker. Then they give you the shot. There is no court or judge or investigator.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
Always. ACA didn't exist 30 years ago. It's cheaper to provide preventive care than to pay for chronic illness. They aren't doing it to be nice they do it to make money. I get a discount for belonging to the gym too, which is clearly not part of ACA.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
They will even pay for medication and therapy to help people stop smoking.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
My preventive care has always been paid for by the insurance company. It's cheaper to give you preventive care than pay for a COVID hospitalization and life long complications. I get a full blood panel and urine screen every year and all vaccines are free.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
If you have high cholesterol Medicare will pay for more frequent tests. It's just the initial test that's once every five years if they discover your lips levels are normal. My insurance pays for a full blood screen and urine screen every year.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
SoS is fifth in line.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
You can say you smoked 20 years ago and quit and you qualify. No health insurance company will charge you extra for that. But the easiest thing is just say you're physically inactive. You get the shot. There's hardly any possibility than can say you aren't and no Dr. or Pharm will disagree w/you

Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
Zero.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
You don't have to prove anything. Just claim you used to smoke or that you're physically inactive. Both will get you the shot. No pharmacist can make you prove you used to smoke or that you don't sneak around and go jogging at night.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
Or that you're physically inactive. The pharmacist isn't going to hire a private detective to make sure you aren't jogging.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
No. You tell the pharmacist you are a former smoker or that you're physically inactive. They check the box and give you the shot. This is just to discourage people from even trying to go get the shot.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
You don't have to prove anything. How do you prove "physical inactivity"? You tell the pharmacist you used to smoke and you aren't physically active. They write it down and give you the shot.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
Not true. Doctors can prescribe it to anyone, regardless of condition. "Off-label". Plus 99.9% of Americans can claim "physical inactivity" and would not be questioned by a pharmacist prescribing the shot. It's not like they send private detectives around to make sure people aren't jogging.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
One loophole is to go to your Dr. They can prescribe you vaccine "off-label" or against FDA advice and any good doctor would do that for you if you asked them. And I bet 99% of people in US (anyone not in competitive sports) could claim physical inactivity and not be questioned.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
Well the FDA has dictated which medicines should be prescribed to you and for what since its existence. It's just unfortunate that this used to be based on the known science and our understanding of it.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
Can you not claim physical inactivity? Unless you're a competitive athlete nobody would question it.
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
If you get it from your MD. Don't even need any of the conditions. Drs. can prescribe things "off label" if they want. This mainly prevents or discourages the public from going to Walgreens and having the pharmacist give them the Covid vaccine. But who can argue that you're not physically active?
Tommy Kruse (@tommythecat.bsky.social) reply parent
Or just tell your doctor you want the Covid vaccine. They can prescribe it for you even against the advice of the FDA ("off label") or they can diagnose you with physical inactivity or a mood disorder and give it to you. This mainly limits pharmacists like at Walgreens from giving out the shots.
