I'd think the assembly could craft legislation that would simply even out the disproportionate benefit accruing to upper-income New Yorkers as a result of the OBB. The Feds are eliminating programs to give handouts to the wealthy. NYS should fill the gap in services with reciprocal taxes.

To me it's like the Bowman-Latimer race. Redistricting shifted NY-16's electorate about 30% north Bronx-->Westchester. AIPAC claimed a win that would have been inevitable. Goldman's disclosure filings say he's worth over $250 million. AIPAC's $200,000 in donations is like giving you or me $100.

This seems so fundamental. Allow cars (including taxis) to pick up and drop off for free at the Economy Lot or charge a convenience fee while incentivizing use of public transit. It's so clear the Port Authority board members never set foot on the public transit infrastructure they manage.

Post-renovation LGA. Thank you Andrew Cuomo for this "world class facility" with such a miserable public transit connection to the the city it serves. Like a suburban mall, LGA operates on a snarl of automobile traffic with public bus stops set a quarter mile from one's destination.

The congestion pricing readers are based on LPR which loops back to EZ-Pass by matching license plates. I've got a transponder and, although it'll give me the discounted toll rate, I still get hit with the non-EZ-Pass CP charge plus the rental company's EZ-Pass "convenience fee"

In opposing congestion pricing Duffy likes to claim that NJ --> NYC motorists don't have to pay a toll to enter Manhattan. What he leaves out is that the toll free route is via 9W to Albany, across the Hudson and then down the Taconic to the Third Avenue bridge. A six hour detour.

I think the idea is that NYC would cover the cost of the the fares from the City's budget. That's what NYC currently does with its Fare Fairs program that reduces the cost to ride for low-income New Yorkers.
