Maybe the real explanation is that Cuomo is a terrible manager and what everyone said about his poor management of the COVID response, CUNY/SUNY, the MTA and countless other state matters were right all along.
She's right that words matter, and her rush to judgment and speak before knowing the full context puts her squarely in the wrong and smears an honest candidate. As a constituent, I've called her office (212-688-6262) demanding she issue a public apology.
I also called Schumer's office (212-486-4430): if she can't get behind the mayoral candidate chosen by the Democratic electorate then she should not be the chair of the DSCC. I would think a threshold responsibility of that office would be "supporting Democrats".
