Hey Firefox users.

Screenshot from a Tumblr post by ralfmaximus: Mozilla, in its finite wisdom, embedded LLM bots into recent versions of Firefox for the vitally-important purpose of… naming tab groups. Now, some users are noticing CPU and power usage spikes caused by a background process called Inference. Ugh. Reminder again for Firefox users to visit your about:config page, search for the browser.ml.chat.enabled key, and set that to false: If yours says true then double-click it until it reads false. Doing that turns off the AI chatbot features in Firefox, but also the stupid new LLM tab-naming feature that's rolling out

Someone else has shared an article pointing out that this calamitous drop in token count is mostly reserved for OpenAI, but looking into it further it seems that OpenAI represents most of the users of LLMs, but not a very high share of token count. Turns out that's because coding bots really drive

down for ChatGPT, that represents a disproportionate share of users. Of course this still doesn't prove it was students, I'm just learning that token counts are iffy as an assessment of use rbase.

Claude is the biggest model by token count, and these are the apps using it that are displayed on that website. As you can see the big hitters are all for coding. So yeah, it makes sense that general token count across then industry aren't going down, that's mostly coders, but if things are going

The top 20 apps using Claude Sonnet 4. The biggest ones are all coding bots.

So I'm looking into this more and it is a question of 'how well does token usage correspond to users', because ChatGPT represents *way* more user-share then token-share. I thought maybe image generation was skewing it, but looking at the site discussed in the article it's not images, it's code.

I would wonder if that's something to do with the type of content being generated? I'm assuming image processing is far more computationally expensive for example. I do agree though that this imply we can't use token count to say that it was school holidays starting causing a drop off in users.

onto other platforms in just one day. Given that OpenAI's LLMs remain the most used in terms of user count by a substantial margin, I'm not sure this article proves that usage didn't dive off a cliff after June the 6th. I find the poor correlation of token usage to user count to be interesting,

... This article reads like it was written by an LLM. So annoying and repetitive. And while yes, it does suggest token usage for all GenAI stuff didn't drop as calamitously as it did for Open AI, this article does nothing to prove that 'market forces' as it claims drove all those users

$160 is the token bribe so you can put something down to register as payment to cover up for the actual bribe. Like when Adams paid a few hundred dollars for a normally many thousands of dollars hotel stay in Turkey.

I'm wondering how deep the "We will never cede an inch to the Greens" sentiment runs in the ALP. Feels like that level of complete intransigence can't *just* be Winters, especially when it's so obvious from the seat numbers that their only option for ever achieving power is working with them.

Yeah I think that sounds logical to me. I'm not ruling out yet another election soon, but I imagine there's a sense that whoever pushes for it is gonna get thumped.

At such a primal level too. I've chosen to describe their behavior as deliberate several times in this little exchange, and by that I don't mean I think it's the deliberateness of someone coldly trying to rile you up; but they know they are being rude, and they feel so slighted they don't care.

But their choice to do so in a rude and condescending tone themselves gives away the deliberateness of the double standard. Someone who respected you who sincerely cared about the
