I'm a fan of Brandon Lee's The Crow. Finally watched the 2024 version. Brandon's still #1 but it's the best version since. Gary Numan on the soundtrack is just icing on the cake. Fans of the original: don't think of it as a remake but the latest instalment of the anthology. By those terms, it wins.

Generally the problem I have is it's almost exactly the same story every time: outside press mischaracterise the noble intentions of protagonist(s). Each show that retreads the same theme never adds anything new to it.

...IMHO the trope is more a commentary on the superficiality of the press. When the workplace of someone I know was profiled, they got the basics wrong. Also, "X did not immediately reply to a request for comment" is a sign they rushed to print what they wanted without trying to find a counterpoint.

Virus scanner and/or search an online database of compromised credentials. iOS reports compromised credentials in the Password app automatically. Generally, don't download things from shady sources and verify links in emails are what they claim to be.

Google, Apple, Facebook, etc. didn't get compromised and are not to blame. The 16 billion accounts are "just" a compilation of accounts compromised on user's devices by malware, phishing, etc. The "breach" was of users who used accounts on compromised devices. The headline was sensationalistic.
