It's been a long day and I still have to drive a kid to work after dinner, but please admire this tiny little perfect poppet just before she had breakfast this morning. She's eating beautifully, her raspy lungs are clearing, and she's getting braver.

Yep. Some kittens don't find being inside a warm cosy jumper safe, but 90% do.
Cosette was a little bit worried initially, but now she's purring, so relaxed, and keeps stretching out to touch my face with her paws. A++ adorable kitten.

Good morning from Cosette! We are having a big snuggle and she is purring lots. She still looks very sad, but she inhaled her breakfast and is almost due for lunch!

Sabine, the utter darling, hit a child yesterday but used zero claws (child's comment "it was so soft and fluffy!") but then let two children feed her churu. So! Progress!
She is a darling. She inhaled her breakfast - normally I give newbies free choice dry food so they learn the food is always there, but she will eat until she explodes if I do. Poor starved baby.

Yup. I am always so happy when they graduate from foster care, even when I adore them. My foster fails usually are because we literally failed to tame someone down enough (Tom, Crumpet), not because I loved them too much.

Tiny Sad Kitten has arrived! She's safe and warm in her crate. She's very worried about everything, but I'm sure she will adjust nicely. She's very skinny. But now we start thinking of names!
That's all I'm working towards with Sabine. She just needs to be safe to put into a carrier, and then that training is complete!

Yep, basically! I start by moving them from one place to another, quickly. Just a 30cm move. Or lifting up onto a chair. Low key, no pressure situations. The goal is to get them used to being moved without it ever feeling like a situation they need to escape from.

He was very unhappy with the whole capture experience, and was Big Mad about being put in a carrier, but his new human is great, I think he will adore her.
I've been slowly working on getting her used to being picked up. Progress is slow, but she's learning my hands lifting her are NOT a danger to her safety and she hasn't scratched me for the indignity yet. And you can see above, she jumps onto me for treats now!

No, she needs to get much healthier before she goes under a general anaesthetic. While she's technically over the weight limit, she's super skinny and has raspy lungs. Probably a month or so.
She came out and met JJ's adopters today too! Let a little girl feed her churu! Supervised the whole affair!
AND the new replacement batteries I bought won't fit in the *custom welded* battery box, which made everything ridiculously harder. AND I have no idea why the auxiliary power system is in the tiniest nook in the back of the engine bay instead of accessible 🤬
One of the batteries which runs auxiliary power (lights and water pump) died, which killed the whole system. And replacing them was an ORDEAL because it's all weird custom wiring built around whatever he could source. It was hard.
I'll quarantine her here. Lungworm treatment works fast, so she won't be a shedding risk. And while we have panleuk, it's very very uncommon and basically triggers a giant vet alert if anyone tests positive.
It would be very startling.
JJ is adopted! I think his new human is going to be a perfect fit, I liked her very much. He was very nervous, but we talked about how to help him adjust and told her to message me if she needs to. So excited for him!

From the look of it, she probably has lungworm, and lots of other worms, plus the usual fleas/skinny/scared combo. She's being treated for those!
Sabine! Jumped into my lap ALL BY HER OWNSELF. Sure, I had churu bribes, but it was her choice to walk on me. And she hung out getting pats for a few minutes after the churu ran out. Winning!

Yup! Some cats are super into churu even when they aren't motivated by anything else. But it's cat dependant obvs. Tom won't eat churu, or many other treats, but he likes chicken pieces, and I just discovered catnip dental treats he loves!

Yes, they've got good tree belts, and lots of little nooks and spots to hang out. And the other more exposed paddock has lots of actual wind break fencing set up for lambing. They do way better than you'd expect!
