flashbacks to writing STET angrily on my copyedited draft (of a previous book)

I don't really wear dresses that often, alas, but that would be a good solution!

Alas, not for me. But it would be a good option, practically speaking!

I appreciate this encouragement

Okay but WHAT ARE THOSE PANTS ANDREA and most importantly, are they long enough
Veronica Roth (@veronicarothbooks.com) reply parent
Ooh, really? I pretty much just lift weights, so Chucks would be sufficient, but I have high arches so they're usually too flat. If they make them with arch support...!
Veronica Roth (@veronicarothbooks.com) reply parent
I also think this about the perfect workout shoe that is also cute. LIES.
Veronica Roth (@veronicarothbooks.com)
every time a book tour approaches I think, this time. This time I will find the perfect travel pants. But I need to learn that there is no perfect travel pant, you will simply get uncomfortable when you travel that much no matter what you put on your body.
Veronica Roth (@veronicarothbooks.com) reply parent
does that sweet spot really exist, asking for a friend who is swinging wildly between one extreme and the other (Okay, fine, I'm the friend.)

To Clutch A Razor got a starred review from Publisher’s Weekly! And I am pretty thrilled about it!

Ugh, I'm so sorry. I hope Fiasco returns ASAP.
Veronica Roth (@veronicarothbooks.com)
I finished my first pass pages for Seek the Traitor's Son and as usual at this stage, I am 1. convinced the book is brilliant 2. convinced the book is trash whether i'm right or i'm right, there's nothing to be done about any of it at this point!
Veronica Roth (@veronicarothbooks.com) reply parent
Then my work here is done

Just as an FYI for people with face recognition difficulties, the best way to find me at conventions is to look for a shockingly tall woman with airpods. I will be listening to either Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter or Give Me One Reason by Tracy Chapman, my convention overstimulation coping songs.
Veronica Roth (@veronicarothbooks.com) reply parent
also, can we campaign to have tiny book covers printed on name tags at conventions, because THAT'S what I really have a great memory for.
Veronica Roth (@veronicarothbooks.com) reply parent
Yeah, when I stare at name tags it's just because I'm anxious that I have incorrectly paired the tiny face from social media with the name in my head. (Though there are some cases where it's obvious the person you're talking to sees your name and checks out of conversation immediately.)
Veronica Roth (@veronicarothbooks.com) reply parent
(I forgot to say, this is an AP headline.)

Veronica Roth (@veronicarothbooks.com) reply parent
(I'm sure there are stylistic reasons why one might elect not to use contractions but the problem was that I was *sometimes* using them and sometimes not so it was like characters were lurching into this other kind of diction without reason.)
Veronica Roth (@veronicarothbooks.com) reply parent
what, and I cannot emphasize this enough, the fuck
Veronica Roth (@veronicarothbooks.com)
Got asked how my writing has changed since Divergent and the serious answer is very long/involved but the fun answer is that I use more contractions now. I had no idea I wasn't using them that much and the first editor to point out this occasional stiltedness was @johnjosephadams.com
Veronica Roth (@veronicarothbooks.com) reply parent

People will tell you to write the weird story of your heart but they don't tell you what to do when you're not that weird and the story of your heart is something a little basic but you do it just slightly wrong so that thousands of impressionable youths curse your name and threaten you with death

ME1 is a little slow going-- game mechanics are tedious but the story payoff is well worth it, imo, especially when you get to the 2nd and 3rd games.
Veronica Roth (@veronicarothbooks.com) reply parent
I wanted to try that one but then it was really buggy when it came out, I think? I assume that's resolved now? I should give it a go.

The key is not to sit down when you get home, and then to put on a nice lil podcast or audiobook to make unpacking feel less horrible
Veronica Roth (@veronicarothbooks.com)
I'm 37 today, and the wisdom I have to offer you is this: - don't engage, just block - "let it air out" is not actually good advice for wound healing, thanks mom - the oxford comma is good - unpack right when you get home, you'll thank me later
Veronica Roth (@veronicarothbooks.com) reply parent
Now I almost hope someone says this to you again so you can give that response 😂 (no I don't)(but a LITTLE)
