Democracies have a greater propensity to rapidly unravel as authoritarian power consolidates, historians have shown, which could imperil citizens who might have prepared for flawed governance but suddenly face the menace of full autocracy. It’s every constitutional guardian’s nightmare scenario.

Constructive steps should be destructive steps on the aggressor.

In other words their performance in terms of sanctions is insufficient. In war, anything less than maximum performance is an error, so goes the fighter aircraft philosophy. Europe should have troops in the interior doing at least air interdiction.

It’s a short term bandaid to the problem of egregious partisan gerrymandering. The fix is a balanced bipartisan committee on setting electoral maps, or some other idea that removes imbalances.

An army without the “will” to fight is weak. They can force meat forward only up to a point but let’s see how the incursion N of Povrosk ends after the Azov Battalion responds. As long as Europe keeps military aid up the grinder will keep chewing.

“…you serve humanity itself” – uh huh? As if there is any shred of humanity left in him. All evidence is he doesn’t serve his people, his neighbors, allies or humanity itself; only greed for conquest, power and wealth.

Both wannabe emperors have no clothes. Putin can’t stop because he will be held to account by his people for crimes against his citizens and by the world for crimes against humanity. Trump can’t empower Ukraine because Putin has something over him. Both leaders are weak.

Flaps are retracted/extended according to airspeed. It doesn’t look like enough airspeed was attained to retract flaps from the takeoff setting, assuming they had been set correctly in the first place. If this was a no-flap takeoff procedure, the aircraft didn’t gain enough speed to sustain flight.
