I think that the worst part of streaming is that shows aren't allowed to have dud or filler episodes. X-Files is odd because when it's bad, it is deeply terrible. But when it's good it's so so so good.
Dana Scully is one of the most American characters ever put on screen. She's an overtly Christian woman, said to be greatly empathetic and reasonable, who refuses to hold space for any other kind of belief.
It's not helped that it's sandwiched between better episodes in a very good season.
This episode is sadly not campy enough to be funny. It's wooden, and the big bad is literally house cats killing people. The show itself holds up really well though. Surprisingly so.
