Personally, I can't think of anything worse than having to live for months on end in a hotel room. No storage for clothes, toys, food, drinks. It's certainly not luxury after more than a couple of days
The trouble is that for a lot of people, staying in a hotel is luxury. The hotels used for housing immigration/asylum are standard hotels, at best. But these are still much better than some people's homes and that's a cause of frustration that the right wing are tapping into.
