Wholeheartedly agree
There is the moral and emotional dimension of this tragedy – the rage and fury that so many will probably never face justice for this world historic crime – and then there is the pragmatic – that I, and so many others, just want it to end. Actions like this fall under the latter imperative.
The Israeli government is denying a US Senator the ability to bear witness to the destruction the bombs and arms supplied by his own government have wrought, even by way of a third-party government, and that is significant, and it takes someone like him pushing the door to reveal the reality.
Van Hollen is taking huge professional and personal risks trying to break the institutional omertà in the American political establishment with on bearing witness to Gaza and relaying its reality to the American people, and actions like this should be praised.
