If you're a custom feed creator, you can now enable "show more" and "show less" buttons in your feeds. This gives people using your feed a simple way to tell you what they love ā and what they want less of.

iām gonna have to take another wtf quiz
zeu (@zeu.dev)
i think we're so focused on making atproto versions of existing platforms that we've lost sight that new exciting types of sites are what we need to grow the ecosystem eg why go to bluesky when x already exists? why not make something new where users can't compare to anything existing?

it's baffling. perhaps i am in an echo chamber, but maybe its more because we don't give it the time of day knowing that we can control what we see and what we should see is more hope and happiness in our community rather than shit flinging political fights we deem is pointless and soul sucking?
zeu (@zeu.dev) reply parent
is it the need to "fight the right where they are" on X, similar to our wants for the dems (america ik) to even *try* fighting the repubs irl? is it the sense that because no right leaning user is prominent here that we aren't willing to debate them? or are they kinda jealous we can live in bliss?
zeu (@zeu.dev)
i genuinely want to know why Bluesky triggers this response from so many left leaning people. what are these "characteristics that make progressivism unappealing to normal people"? and why are they so adamant that this platform is dying, its an echo chamber, or why its ppl should stay on x instead?

yeah thatās also whatās bothering me too, like i get Mastodon the software aināt liable, but Mastodon the server definitely is, especially since they already verify for legal reasons?? and decide to let minors in anyways??? so like what?
zeu (@zeu.dev)
atproto appviews that only crawls data from certain users in a ācommunityā, call that sub atmospheric
zeu (@zeu.dev) reply parent
AND THIS IS A PROBLEM
zeu (@zeu.dev) reply parent
yeah i understand all that. i guess my problem is that mastodon/activitypubās version of decentralization ensures that any data/users on a non-compliant server will be erased in comparison no data gets erased from atproto, just needs a compliant appview to read them
Jerry Chen (@jcsalterego.bsky.social) reposted reply parent
actually it's more Why BlueSky Is An Echo Chamber And Also Dying And A Bunch Of Meanies
zeu (@zeu.dev) reply parent
amazing reporting as always!!
zeu (@zeu.dev) reply parent
i reread the article like 5 times to really understand their position, and i still donāt know how this is fundamentally different from a big social media server, with its own data, being held liable vs atproto whose users looking at the same data with separate compliant appviews
zeu (@zeu.dev)
so mastodon servers can still be liable? like if a server is in mississippi, they would have to implement their own age verification system? or if a big server already has signup age verification, like mastodon social, what stops the state to say it isnāt enough?
zeu (@zeu.dev) reply parent
did tim actually cooked??
zeu (@zeu.dev)
not knowing how mastodon is going to deal with compliance with the law and/or how users can still access the server afterwards is uhhhh concerning? maybe some ap users can enlighten me

now the question is how to make it easy for non tech nerds to make and host an appview
zeu (@zeu.dev)
i would like to know more about mastodon before complaining about it, but my current impression is that you still have to trust your identity and data in the hands of third party admins compared to atproto where you own the data and identity and give access to third party app views instead right?
zeu (@zeu.dev) reply parent
the forever war in the fediverse/decentralization lol
