Have you thought about giving yourself a reward? Calculate how much you were spending and figure out what size loan that amount of money could repay over, say, three years. Find the reward, buy that thing and commit with yourself to sell it if you cave in. It worked for me, I bought a great "toy".

For what that headline *wants to suggest*, they would need the % of fatal crashes that are *caused* by drivers under 30. That's a very different dataset - and almost certainly not available.
Stephen McManus (@zynks.bsky.social) reply parent
100% of under 30s are road users. They are killed walking, cycling, sitting in back seats. They are actually more at risk than others more likely to be drivers.
Stephen McManus (@zynks.bsky.social) reply parent
37.4% of the Irish population (2,010k out of 5,374k)) is under 30, this headline is not news unless they are suggesting that it is a safe cohort.

It gets more complicated in cases where AI uses one methodology and is unable to adapt to something completely new. e.g. breast cancer screening. Yes, AI can do it better, but if the workers are gone, how does tech evolve in the absence of human inspiration? Will AI be progressive or conservative? /
Stephen McManus (@zynks.bsky.social) reply parent
However, there's one issue, similar to the US move for globalisation in the 80s and 90s: once you replace the knowledge based workers, the skills are lost and it can be really hard to restore. 2/
Stephen McManus (@zynks.bsky.social)
There a point frequently missed in discussions about AI or self-driving cars: they don't need to be perfect, just better than humans. Errors will occur and different to the current ones, but if there's a case based on saved lives, money or health outcomes, it will be hard to stop it. 1/
